I like your thought process on the trade, they have too many centers. But, instead of trading Staal, who excelled in Minnesota last season, why not move a winger because both Staal and Grandlund can play wing. Coyle could be moved and honestly bring in more then Staal because he has crazy upside. Contract wise, I think Grandlund will get paid about 6 million with a little bit less term. Like 5-6 years. Also, there is no way Folingo gets paid 4.5. I'd say 2.5 at most. And that gives you more cap space.

Wait why are you getting almost nothing useful back for staal, and why trade him for cap reasons just to sign an unnecessary amount of NHL depth forwards? Your term on Granlund is a little long in my view but I do think if you give him that long you should drop the AAV.

Cap wise, as long as you keep granny at 6mil and then foligno under 2.5mil, you will have enough cap space to sign a guy like Cullen and be just fine.

I would love to have E. Staal or Charlie Coyle. I'm sure the Wild would rather hang onto Coyle because of age and contract.
