Plattner goes crazy says WIN NOW OR ELSE

Description
There is no way the Sharks finish above the bottom 10 in the league in 24-25. But what if the owner says pull out all the stops, future be damned? I think Celebrini still gets drafted at #1, but beyond that all picks are fair game. What is the best they can possibly do, pedal to the metal? The answer would appear to be...not much. Even if these guys all buy in. Just to be clear, I really hope they don't try something like this.

Marner is the guy that seems to be on the block. This is way more haul than any GM in their right mind sends for Marner, but something has to go for the first year retention and the attached extension.

That's a great deal for both sides. I hope Marleau gives Marner some advice this summer and convinces him to waive to San Jose.

Unlikely Marner waives for one of the worst teams in the league - maybe🤷🏻, but I can pretty much guarantee that Leafs won’t be retaining a single penny. Preposterous

A pick in the teens, a late 1st and a mid defenceman for Marner. How great for the leafs.

Maybe it's agreed on, but it can't be signed before the trade. He's eligible for an extension on July 1st and the trade includes picks in the 2024 draft which is June 28th and June 29th.

Good point. Though it doesn't matter really as this roster and associated trade were an exercise in panic and it will effectively sabotage the Sharks rebuild for the remainder of my lifetime. The trade is also out of compliance with Leaf fan universe where that one guy that's apparently the only reason they can't win cups can only be traded to a contender that is somehow also flush with top-10 draft picks.
