His 15 team NTC doesn’t help either in terms of a return. I get Bs fans not wanting to give up a ton for Necas either. I don’t think he’s a great fit for what you guys need or your structure. Just don’t seem like great trade partners but EF comment about canes and bruins talking about an Ullmark deal last TDL sparked even more of these deals. Problem with that is the context of that situation wasn’t really provided which is canes weren’t sure if Freddy would be back at all and Koochie and Raanta were shaky in the beginning of the year. Just doesn’t make sense for either side honestly.

Thank you for including the full context. I agree, I don't see a fit here. The Canes absolutely needed an answer in net, and fortunately Freddy was able to return healthy in time that they didn't need to spend assets on anyone in the trade market. I think Necas could be a fit for the B's, but only on the wing. And if it is true that he wants to play center, then I don't see the fit at all. If he was a fit at C for the Bruins, then he would have been playing 2C for the Canes for the past few years.

Spot on. These bruins canes trades this week has caused wild discourse on both sides lol

It’s part of the stupidity of cap friendly. The objective tends to be about winning an argument rather than having a civil conversation. Frankly both are possible, but who really cares.

I believe Ullmark would be a significant upgrade over Andersen and Carolina doesn’t want to pay Necas. Doesn’t mean they need to be traded for one another. It does represent an opportunity if other parts are added.

I’ve said it from the beginning, I would prefer the Bruins to sign a free agent and trade Ullmark for a draft pick.

Necas is only interesting because I believe his value is somewhat impacted by what his salary is going to make. I’d rather have Jake DeBrusk, the incremental cap money, the pick from Ullmark, Lysell, and the other pick(s) it would take to supplement the deal. That could change if DeBrusk makes more or Necas makes less than I expect,

Under .900 and negative GSAx is bad no matter how you try to delegitimize the argument. Especially when you are talking about believing he returns a top 6 RFA. Not worth it.

1. My point was never that his past playoff performances were good. Strawman all you want. My point was that you are creating a narrative based on statistics drawn from a statistically insignificant sample size. It doesn't matter how many numbers you quote to me, I will keep telling you that you are extrapolating.
2. I don't think he returns Necas by himself, I've said this already.

Not a fan said that. Using an exaggeration to come back in an argument is a logical fallacy.

Oh look a whackadoodle that think Necas + 27th OVA + Mendel get Draisaitl ++, that doesn't even get him a sniff of Draisaitl's jock strap. Like what the actual F*** are those Canes fans on?!

That dude has 6 total posts. Lets use him as an example. How many other fan bases put out optimal / dream situations with grossly lopsided trades?

Misconstruing no for reasons of the the player coming back doesn’t make sense for the canes as saying necas is worth more? Interesting

The reality is you can find stupid trades from any fan base. I realize it’s easy to jump on someone who spoke so definitively, but I see trades from Bruins fans all the time that make me cringe

I will say a few things. They are my opinions and you may disagree, but …

1. I don’t believe there is a GM in the league that wouldn’t take Linus Ullmark over Freddie Andersen if you look at age, injury history, and recent performance

2. I don’t believe there is a GM in the league that would trade Marty Necas for Linus Ullmark.

3. I believe the salary valuations for Necas probably would be all over the place.

The question will always be what’s the value you put on the ancillary pieces. From my perspective, the Bruins only have one prospect that they’d willingly part with who fits the value difference. The question, to me, would be how does Carolina view Lysell.

I am a Bruins fan, but people need to stop believing a straight up deal is possible. We would be adding Lysell and a pick for it to be considered

This roster was taking Friedman’s report from this podcast if you want to listen https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/32-thoughts-the-podcast/id1332150124?i=1000656636721. Sounds like they may have actually talked this deal prior to the trade deadline too. Necas being an RFA who’s going to get paid knocks his price down a bit.

This is just taking Friedmans report and playing around with what possibilities that move could open up. I played around a little bit and this was the one I liked the most - not overpaying a guy like Elias Lindholm and instead getting Necas to basically take Debrusk,s place in the top 6 and then adding a mid-priced 2C with room to add a 1C during the season. Relax.

I listened to that podcast. He said he believes they talked about a deal, but doesn’t know if it was tied to Necas. It was Marek who was filling in the gaps.

Still believe if this deal happens, it includes Lysell ar a minimum. Could be wrong. I don’t believe I am.

Also, my preference is they bring in Lindholm instead of the injury risk that is Monahan. Respect the work that he did to get back, but his medicals scare the crap out of me.

Also, the irony is if you look at PLD and Necas over a three year period, they are similar. PLD is more physical and Necas has more pace. PLD has a more proven track record at center, but he has more concerning attitude issues and makes about a few million more in AAV than he should. I’d say the same about Necas at 8.5

My guess is Necas will be in the 7 to 7.5 range over the same time frame.

I know the Kings regret that decision. Wonder how it impacts his trade value. Assume he won’t net as much as PLD did
