Here is the deal, the trade is very reasonable for Marner.
But this isn’t smart for the sharks.
I’m not hating on your deal but in a rebuild giving up 2 recent 1st round picks, a 1st rounder next year and a top 4 D is a lot to give up.
This would be great for Toronto but in my eyes sets the rebuild back a step.

I think getting the 1st overall pick was a game changer for San Jose and should open the door for big trades. Getting Celebrini a star like Marner to play with would be invaluable for his development.

And the pieces involved in this deal, apart from Musty, are really not that valuable in the long run. Edstrom projects to be a 3C, the Vegas 1st will be late, and Ferraro has his highest value right now so it'll be smart to trade him.

Like I said the value is fair, but the whole reason you’re dumping Marner is the exact reason I think Grier passes.
While talented and amazing in the regular season he disappears in the playoffs and plays soft. Not qualities Grier is looking for.

And I feel the Vegas pick will be higher than you think, they are up against the cap older players with injury history and barely made the playoffs this year, think they have potential to wind up just outside the playoffs next year.

Value is in the ballpark but it’s a Hard Pass from San Jose. Find another trade partner for Marner.

Saw someone on here the other day call him milk box Mitch which was clever/catchy. Bad jokes aside he isn’t worth it for San Jose and would set the rebuild back. Not only giving up these assets but then signing him to a massive contract. Hard pass. Leads should get a decent return from another team though

I think the trade is one asset too many. One thing needs to be removed from the SJS side.

Sharks would be stupid to do this trade. He doesn't fit the timeline.

Only way I do this if I'm SJS is giving up way less which is unfair for Toronto.

Fair is what the market will support. His current and future salary going to be challenging to manage for most contending teams, many of which have already spent their high end draft assets. And when you look at his present relationship with Toronto fans and media, he may be none to eager to do them any favors.

As a Sharks fan I don't love it. I'd prefer to be bad and go through a patient rebuild that is more solid for long term success. Besides, Marner has proven himself to not be a clutch playoff performer

Getting celebrini and making this trade for Marner doesn’t end the rebuild. They are still quite a ways away. If anything this puts them back. Musty is as close to untouchable as you can get. The Vegas pick is unprotected, which you never know what could happen with their cap issues.

Adding Marner doesn’t make this team competitive. They have massive holes in depth scoring, all defense and goaltending, marner isn’t helping any of that and they lose a TON

Why doesn't the contingent of Leafs fans who are so eager to trade Marner grasp this concept? Put simply, the bad teams that have the cap space for Marner aren't going to be contenders even if they add him (the Ducks finished twenty games out of the playoffs this season), and Marner is unlikely to waive his NMC to go there or re-sign with them if he does, while the teams that are contenders don't have the cap space and will probably have to give up the assets that make them contenders in order to acquire him. Trading Marner is going to be a lot harder than most Toronto fans posting these ACGMs think.
