Not many conteding teams have space for a 3+ mil 4th liner. The angle for Anaheim would be to trade him at the deadline to a contender half retained. Could probably fetch a second. Habs only have one retention slot that would be used for Savard at the deadline. That's the best way to manage those assets for mtl imo.

Where is the realistic part? Cause those trades sure as hell aren't. You sent nothing of value to the other teams.

The trade comp for Zegras is Gauthier and Mittlestadt, that translates to Reinbacher and the 25 2nd.

Last post was a misclick but what the hell do you mean no value? 2 firsts and an asset you could flip for a second for Zegras is a lot more than most teams would offer assuredly. They're not in a win now mode they won't want older more established players they want futures most likely. And for the Canes deal you get replacements for Pesce and Skjei (they're not as good obviously but you won't get better for cheaper). Barron is an nhl player at 22 and a RD with decent size and Matheson costs 4,5 mil and was a top 10 point getter as a defensman. This is good value in both those deals.

Zegras turned 23 two months ago, he fits our rebuild timeline and is a top 6 forward on any roster in this league. The aggregate of what those two late firsts and Armia (a second is DAMNED aspirational for a return even with retention) is significantly less than what Zegras brings to this roster. That's what he means.

Habs will never trade their top prospects/young players for a guy that got 65 points once and only gotten worse since. The mittelstadt trade was a player for player trade, you won't get that with mtl as it would be a lateral move at best. Gauthier trade is not a comparable as it's a very unique situation and philly had to get rid of him. Zegras will go for an assortment of assets wherever he goes. Won't be a swap I guarantee it.

Then you won't get Zegras, it's really that simple. I've got two comps from this season, you've got no comps, which of us is more realistic I wonder?

"Got 65 points one time and got worse ever since" you mean got 65 points LAST SEASON??? Yeah, a season riddled with injury is going to be worse than last season, that's so surprising /s. You're completely out to lunch with your takes bud.

I’d happily do both those trades if I am the Habs.
Top 6 looks complete and you stilll have the 5th overall.
Could go in so many different directions, even D.

Could pick Dickinson or even Parekh. Wait 1-2 years and see how the D shakes out a bit before trading one of them for F help.

Hutson - Reinbacher
Guhle - Parekh

That’s nasty.

I agree that Zegras shouldn't be traded by Anaheim. I wouldn't do it if I was them, but if reports are to be believed Verbeek is shopping him rather aggressively. Zegras has baggage and his performances have been inconsistent to say the least. Anaheim won't get an equivalent player back for Zegras in a deal, especially if you're really giving the impression that you want him gone. You can only hope to get a good package. That's why I want the habs to go for him. There's a market inefficency there.

The source of the Zegras availability is Frank Seravalli, the same guy who's said Gibson is getting traded this year for five years, and said he was refusing to suit up for the team this season. Frank is the boy who cried wolf in Anaheim, he has no Intel, he never has, so he stairs **** up for clicks.

We're not shopping Zegras, Verbeek's on record saying that. Even if we were, we're not trading him for a bag of crap like you've proposed.

🤦‍♂️ your ignorance is showing

Please please do take the perspective that you shouldn’t be trading for Zegras and spread it around MTL though. These wildly redundant proposals for an unavailable player have beaten this horse well beyond recognition

Eh a lot lines up and Verbeek saying that doesn't change anything. Dreger also reported on it btw. We'll see.

Many NHL people have stated the potential availability of Zegras. In inside circles his name is out there. Verbeek saying he's not shopping him doesn't change anything. I doubt Zegras is the most appreciated player by Anaheim management right now. He's one phone call away from leaving.

We're more aware of the history and progression of the rumours than you are. Both Verbeek and Cronin want Zegras here, the rumours of him being shopped are false, the ones of him being available are overblow. Any perception of him being a depressed asset after this season are also erroneous, he had a couple unlucky injuries this year but when he returned healthy at years end he played and produced like his normal self, with a much better defensive effort.

If no one's willing to pay the price to acquire him, he stays in Anaheim. It's that simple

Damn bro didn't know you were a front office employee with a great gauge of his value league wide. You must have made some calls! I thought we were just talking yknow. If i knew that the guy I was talking to had access to the objective truth about the situation I wouldn't have bothered!

Good, spread the word to your fellow habs fans to stop posting Zegras ACGMs, none of you have had an original post since February on the matter.
