Love Lekkerimaki as a prospect but I think that given the term and dollars on Drake's deal coupled with the impact he can bring... a 2025 1st wouldnt be enough value to cover the difference.

Ottawa is trying to compete right now and even if Lekkerimaki turns out to be the better player his true impact in the league is still at least a couple years off. The impact of the player chosen with the, likely late, '25 1st probably isnt being felt for another 3-4 years after that.

If Ottawa is moving Batherson it would take pieces that amount to a deal leaning Ottawa's way to a point where it's questionable why you'd even be offering such a package as he is easily the best value contract on the team. Not a bad mock trade by any means but I'm just not sure theres a fit there at all.

If they traded Brady then this is something i’d for sure consider. I’d expect them to do a 2-3 year retool around Timmy and Sandy and Lekkerimaki is the perfect Giroux replacement. Those Swedish players are god damn studs

That Batherson-Lekk deal looks pretty good to me.

I don't think Mikheyev is a cap dump though, and I think Chandler Stephenson has a higher cap hit on the market.

He is absolutely a cap dump. Mikheyev has his uses but he's not worth his cap hit at all.

Trading a skilled player after one bad season on a not-terrible contract is just bad business. He could totally bounce back next year.

If he's skilled and on a good contract, then Vancouver should just keep him. Sounds like a guy you need in the playoffs.

I didn't say it was a good contract, I just said a not-terrible contract.

I think they should keep him but that's just me. His value is at an all time low and if they really want to move him they should either wait for his value to go up or wait until it's clear that his value won't go up. A second round pick isn't worth dumping him.
