We would like to keep Holtz, if we can.

The #10/Daws for #13/Gustavsson trade was probably more fitting for New Jersey. If a good defensive dman were added, maybe Holtz gets added.

I did a #10 Holtz for #13 Gus and Hunt trade recently. Lambos, Peart probably work in that scenario too. If Wild were willing to add Brodin, could swap that in for #13 and Hunt.

And if you really want to make it a blockbuster, add Foligno to deal (I am not sure on NTC nor his cost). But that would allow the Devils to do all their Fitzmas shopping in one stop.

The Wild aren’t trading Brodin, even though I think they should be listening to offers…
So, hypothetically, how about Brodin, Gus, Foligno tor the 10, Holtz, Daws, and…what else?

I do not like the idea of swapping Holtz for Hunt at all

I did like the #10+Holtz for #13+Gus+Hunt trade proposal. I was just exploring an option where the Devils would not need to pick swap 10 and 13.

I could see the Wild trading Hunt. I don’t see the Wild trading Peart (I think he is NHL ready) or Lambos (selling low).

In a way it would have been Holtz for Gustavsson (same as original trade above)…then #13/Hunt for #10.

Agree that I’d rather not move Holtz

It depends on what the alternatives are.

I can’t see any situation where I’d be willing to make that move.

If goalie prices across the league are that ridiculous, I run it back with Kahkonen.

Assets better spent on a building a lineup that is top to bottom better than last years to truly insulate a goalie. And then revisit at the deadline if necessary

Because Allen and Kahkonen is already an upgrade on last years goaltending.

I’m not sure how Holtz is a ridiculous asking price. It’s two players whose values are lower than previous due to their underwhelming years. Holtz is living on his draft stock. Gustavsson on his play from two seasons ago.

IMO, Gus has a much higher chance of returning to form than Holtz has of living up to being the 7th overall pick in his draft.

It would be a gamble for both teams.

Gustafsson also costs nearly 4 mill a year. Holtz is basically free

Because Gus has shown that he can play at a very high level in the NHL at his position. Holtz's ELC only lasts one more season.

I don't remember Gus' cap hit being a problem when discussing #10+prospect for #13+Gus, so I'm going to assume it still isn't a problem.

I did find it amusing that you rounded $3.75M to $4M for Gus and $894k to basically $0.

Holtz is literally the bare minimum you’d have to pay for the roster spot.

I’m happy to pay a 2nd for Gus. Not paying Holtz.

If this is just you undervaluing Holtz, then I’m happy to replace him with another asset.

If this is you understanding how valuable holtz is and demanding him for Gustafsson, then I pass

I'll pass on a 2nd for Gus. Not worth it to Minnesota.
