Maybe in Montreal fantasyland those things are true, but in the reality in the NHL they are not.

Gallagher is pretty bad now and still has 3 years on what is, even with retention, an awful contract. He is a definite negative value asset.

Anderson is a unique combo of a player that doesn't use his size and average 4th line play, while be paid as a top six player for another 3 years. He's basically dead negative value cap. Even worse than Gallagher. Anderson's contract is on par with Jack Campbell's. No one is touching it. He is nowhere near even being a zero value asset, so he's a light year or more from being a positive value asset.

Hughes has rejected 1st round offers for Anderson. So it doesn't matter what you say, his value is high. Also, Toronto is desperate.

Lol. You actually believe those fake stories. If he actual turned down a first for Anderson, he would have been fired for incompetence. You let me know when Anderson gets the massive return you're expecting.

Just because you say doesn't make the story false. It was reported by reputable journalists. There is a rigorous standard in Montreal. Our media isn't water carriers like in Toronto.

All of these trades are extremely lopsided in Montreal's favor except maybe the Philly trade

Please tell me why a 60 point, bad defensive player who has never played 82 games is worth more than 1st round pick?

San Jose got 2 1st for Hertl. So this is fair as Zegras is less than Hertl.

Yeah man, missing one game in a season for a career high of 81, really an injury prone player /s. There's Habs homers and then there is the likes of you, your takes are horrendously misinformed, your opinions are misguided at best, and Montreal paid 13OA+ for Dach, you've got zero leg to stand on claiming another player is injury prone thus decreasing their value.

You conveniently left out the Hertl trade which I mentioned. It doesn't help your cause. I don't think Zegras is 1/2 the player.

Utterly uninformed. Every trade is delusional.

Matheson isn't the type of defender that fits Toronto, so the Maple Leafs wouldn't trade you that package even if you took Anderson out. With him in the deal, Toronto would be taking on about $7 million extra in cap. You should do some research on Toronto's cap situation and try to figure out why Maple Leafs fans are so eager to trade Mitch Marner.

Vancouver isn't about to trade you a first-pairing defender for a #2 and a #3 defenseman, and thinking that Gallagher has positive value is ignoring reality -- in his last 5 seasons (264 games), he's averaged half a point a game and hasn't achieved that number in the last three. Nobody is paying $19.5 million (cap AND compensation) for a declining 32-year-old third-liner and giving you anything for him, least of all a second-round draft pick.

Tampa just paid a second for two seasons of 34-year-old Ryan McDonough. Believing that the Lightning will pay one of their few first-round draft picks for one season of 34-year-old David Savard to play on the third pair behind Sergachev and Cernak is just cuckoo.

You can make a colorable argument that Barron is worth a second. One season of Dvorak on his 20% underwater $4.45 million contract is worth no more than a fourth.

If Anaheim puts Zegras on the market, which is highly doubtful, the asking price will be an impact player or prospect plus a top-half first; you might get away with sending Reinbacher with your own 2025 second or Mailloux with a late first like the Calgary/Florida pick.

Speaking of Mailloux, he would be a nice prospect to add to Jamie Dysdale and Oliver Bonk plus the other 4 RhD prospects Philly has in their system, but not at the cost of a 334-game veteran who's only 24 years old and has been improving each season that he's been in the NHL (including the last two, when he appeared in every single game, and the last one, in which he scored 50 points).

Unfortunately Dach injury has made people forget the talent level. He is a 2nd overall pick talent.
There is no 3rd pair. They are all equally built. One young star potential D with one veteran star D. Which other team has such depth?

Ok, so I see leafs fans are wanting to repeat same mistakes and not value playoff valuable players like Anderson.

Yeah, guys who suck and are hilariously expensive are super valuable in the playoffs. Who doesnt want a 30 year old with 14 career playoff points who is a massive defensive liability?

Canucks aren’t moving Hronek for a cap dump, a bottom pair dman, and a healthy scratch

Hertl is 30 on the back half of his career and wanted out of San Jose, to say nothing of his problematic contract, Zegras turned 23 in March, the fact that you're using that as a comp shows your inexperience at this.

You're literally trying to justify acquiring Zegras for less that MTL acquired Newhook for. Are you seriously going to attempt to stand here and say Newhook is more valuable of a player than Zegras?

2 60+ point seasons in his first two years, finalist for the Calder trophy in his first full season. Played 81 games the next. Got injured but was near point per game after his return from the lengthy injury. Has a .73 point per game in his career.

Stop pretending that Zegras is this “bum”, yet you seem to want him so bad so you cherry pick him thinking it will decrease his value.

It doesn’t.

1. These are all fair prices, so I don't know why they would say no.
2. 3 lines which are all borderline 1st line level. Pairing strong veteran defencemen with elite defence prospects make this strongest defensive depth in the league.
