No thanks

Paying 2 firsts and 2 good assets for a lhd making over 8 when you paid dahlin, paid power, paid samuelsson, drafted Johnson and traded for Byram is not good asset management.

Sergy isn't getting traded. Tampa finally has a legitimate top 4 again and people think they are just going to trade Sergy or Cernak now lol

Cernak feels more like the defenseman who’s going to be moved imo

I think the last thing Buffalo needs is another high priced defenseman.

That's the guy the Sabres would be looking at, not sergachev. Cernak is a perfect fit. Sergachev is a left d, the Sabres already have- dahlin, power, Byram, Samuelsson, ryan johnson as left d. Does sergachev honestly make any sense, or was this just picking a team with some nice assets and cap space, and saying "them"?

Maybe Perbix too but that one's not particularly important

Those three combine to make less than any one of the defensemen that were named. Considering Tampa just re-added McDonaugh’s giant salary they are either prepared to let Stamkos walk or he’s going to resign for criminally less money than anyone thinks.

How much exactly is "criminally less" I could absolutely see Stamkos signing a longer term deal at 5-6M. Tampa still has over 5M cap space to work with right now and only 3-5 players to sign.

Give Stammer 6Mx5y and that puts them 965k over the cap with 19 players. Trade out Sheary (who's simply been a bad fit but is still on a good deal for other cap strapped teams), Jeannot (who will be a lot more coveted than people on here think), and Perbix (who is a decent dirt cheap option at RD) and that gives them 4.825M and 16 players. Promote Lilleberg or Crozier and that leaves 3.955M to fill in some bottom 6 roles. Tyler Johnson would probably come back on a team friendly deal around 1M, sign a league min 7th defenseman and 2-3 4th liners to fill in the healthy scratch slots. Done

Considering people generally believe Stamkos can get another $7-8 million a year deal, if he stays for less than $5 million that would be a steal.

I didn't say less than 5M I said 5-6M then showed the math for 6M on a long term deal. He will make a lot more money on a 5 year deal at 5-6M than he will on a 3 year deal at 7-8M

I know you didn’t, I can read. I’m saying if he signs for less than $5 million a year that would be criminally less than anyone thinks he should get and would get elsewhere. Of course we’re talking about a guy who has made $8 million a year in an income tax-free state far basically the last decade. He could sign for the league minimum and he would never have to do a damn thing again anyway.
