I highly doubt the Habs move Guhle. Necas is what we need, but not at the expense of Guhle.

The Habs would probably be open to a Matheson++ for Necas trade though

There is no non-prospect that the Hurricanes are interested in besides your top line... if you want Necas or Necas+ your going to have part with either one of those three or like a Hutson or Ghule... The hurricanes need either a 2nd line center or a cheap and young defensemen with huge upside

You can go ahead and take them out of the sweepstakes then

That's fine, there are other wingers available and will be more over the next couple of offseasons.

ROFLMFAO!!! If you think a middle 6 winger gets a top line forward or top pairing D man, I have ocean front property in Arizona you can buy. Necas is 25 (almost 26) with 2 years of team control, wanting 6-7+ mil without proving he can consistently put up more than 45 points, that isn't getting more than a mid/late 1st and a 3rd

The canes don't have to trade him... they have all of the leverage in this scenario.

Sure they can keep him and pay him 6+ mil for 45 points a year and be as happy with him as they are with KK, my god I really, really, really hope that happens and they lose someone more important because of it lmao

They aren't going to lose anybody critical... unlike other cup-contending teams we just don't burn cap and sign awful contracts (outside of KK) and we draft well enough to replace when the cap forces some losses.

If you sign an inconsistent 45-55 point middle 6 winger to more than 5-5.5 mil then you will have 2 of the worst long term contracts in the league. The whole reason the Canes are shopping Necas is cause he wants so much money and has yet to prove he is worth that much. MB is no longer in charge in Montreal Hughes isn't gonna give a player who in 6 years only has 1 season above 55 points 6-7 mil+

Goals is a better indicator of Necas's production than points and he's produced 24-28 goals a season for the last couple of years while playing second-line minutes and PP2
Nobody except Necas's dad said that he wants a trade and according to sources within the Canes organizations... he hasn't requested a trade yet.

People are really undervaluing Necas here. I understand if he actually said he wanted to leave, but unless a guy says he will refuse to play unless he’s traded the leverage is the same. I understand it’s natural for struggling teams to clutch prospects like pearls, but trashing the guy instead of objectively parsing value is so unproductive. Anyway, as an RFA he’s worth two early seconds, although Canes would prefer a top 4 D and a late 2d or lower. So canes reject. And Flyers obviously reject that BS
