Im Back and Michkov is Coming Over

Created by: GMDannyB
Team: 2024-25 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 1, 2024
Published: Jun. 1, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We don’t lose any of our own picks in any year and get younger and faster to play up the ice quick like Torts wants to. We get a partner for Drysdale like the Flyers want to, we don’t have to pay TK to a big contract even tho he’s my favorite Flyer I don’t think he fits the timeline, and we get two players to play with Michkov that can be top line players and suddenly have a really strong top 6 and top 4. Even if the trades require a bit more for the Flyers to give up we have the assets anyway. This would be the way to properly rebuild without tanking. All of this assume Michkov comes over, if he doesn’t you basically just punt this year again and sell what you can to continue to stack assets.

What headline? My team name? Yeah it’s not guaranteed he’s coming over lol but both SKA’s GM and Coach have basically said they are working on legal proceedings with Michkov. What legal proceedings would need to happen if he was playing there next year?

Last I heard they said a buyout is possible but that PHI can’t be involved unless they released a new update?

Yeah buyout is possible and Flyers can’t be involved. But again the coach and GM of the biggest club in Russia doesn’t say they are working on legal proceedings with a player unless the player is in the process of buying out his contract

GM of SKA said there would be a conclusion to the Michkov saga by the end of June so u won’t have to wait much longer whether he stays or not it sounds like

Alright I’ll snag an industrial strength air tight sealed bag and sprinkle some Mickie D’s preservatives on it

There are ways to circumvent this. The flyers can put some escalators in his contract and his agent can finance the buyout and can be paid back later. There is some precedent for it. In my opinion, they should definitely do whatever it takes to bring him over. However if he waits 1 more year it would be most advantageous for the team as his elc would slide and the team will be out of cap hell with Atkinson, Petersen, and Johansen to build around him. But getting him here is the biggest hurdle so if they can; they absolutely should.

Also, i like Lundell and I didn’t realize he is still so young but thats a HUGE contract for a guy who hasn’t really produced at a high level yet. These playoffs have been his breakout but its a small sample size. Do you think the Flyers would still make that trade if he was to bet on himself and ask for a bridge deal? Maybe 2 years. For that contract to be worthwhile, his production would literally have to double.

Only if he is still an RFA at the end of a 2 year bridge deal then yeah it’s still an easy deal to take

I believe he would still be an RFA in 2 years since his ELC is just ending. I like that plan a little more because if they did a 2 year bridge for maybe 4-5mil per and then signed him for 8 years in 2026 he would be under contract for the ages 22-32 and wouldn’t have a heavy cap hit for a player in the twilight of their careers like what is happening with Coots and what will happen if they give TK 8 years.

TK is probably worth more than that but tbh I think it just fits both teams well and does it really matter if another meh prospect is thrown in or not lol

if he stands on the rumored 10M he wants on his next deal no chance OTT does that, if he wants a reasonable contract OTT would do that

100% my friend. I think he'll extend around 9M$ which we can afford tho. Cap goes up to 92M (Estimated but likely) when his extension would take effect. On top of Girouxs deal coming off etc we'd have 8-9M$ even after the Konecny deal to bring back Giroux if he wants and look into the goalie market~

if he wants 9M cap going up or not, pass, that means Bath will want 10M and Brady 15M.

He is better than Batherson, and Brady is already underpaid at 8M$.

not production wise he is not, as for defensively would love to see what his number would have been in OTT, certainly not the same of what he got in philly.

Bath would get a 10 point boost minimum if OTT has at the level philly was this year and a 20+ point boost if OTT was as good as FLA

Points aren't everything even though Konecny produces the same as Bathy while being good on the PK, better defensively and more physical. Bathy and TK would both be on our team here to so theres no point to bicker between the two lol.

TK is heart of this team; he's 100% worth more than Batherson.

Good to have you back, GMDanny. Was wondering where you went. Michkov can get a contract like Will Smith just got; major bonus money added to the ELC.
