I wouldn't move on from Holtz until next year (unless there's a bounce back) I remember reading somewhere Lindy Ruff did a terrible job with him

I wouldn't be trying to move holtz either, but I think he'd be a piece washington pushes HEAVY for as a long term ovi replacement, and I very much want fehevary.

The alternative would be like Malenstyn+Fehevary+3rd for 10th

2025 1st+Clarke+2nd+Daws+3rd for Montembault+Beck or something like that

NJD keeps: Holtz
NJD loses: Clarke+2025 1st

it would be kin if funny that new jersey ends up having both of your goalies , but unfortunaly, we need our starting goalie.

Apperently they want to compete next year for the playoffs, so it would probably take a gross overpay to move him.

I'm higher on Montembault than most outside of MTL.

What beyond 17th overall would consist of a gross overpay in your eyes?

TBH if Holtz is publicly made available I think a ton of teams make a push for them, I know for a fact we would, not entirely sure what we would offer though

We have a french-canadian starter. There are 3 of them in the league right now and not a lot of prospects coming up. Historically, the habs love a french canadian in the net and won’t trade him unless he ask to

As of right now NJD has 2 middle 6 winger spots available, 1 in the top 6 probably alongside Jack Hughes and either Mercer or Haula, and 1 on line 3 alongside probably 2 vets like Palat and Haula.

I think Holtz would fit well on either of them, and I expect him to get that chance this year. When he is an RFA, depending on development, the Gritysuk KHL situation, and contract, I think then he may potentially be on the move

I'd like to see Clarke get a shot, at least somewhere. He reminds me a lot of Fabian Zetterlund in terms of being high shot volume offensive wingers who were TEARING up the AHL and just waiting for their chance to crack in the show.

I think if a team really pushes for Holtz in a trade for a guy we're targeting, I'd be willing to move him to "get my guy" in this case Fehevary, and see what Clarke can do in a 3rd line offensive role.

If we don't move Holtz, it's interesting for Clarke.

Could be traded, put into a top 9 role, or be a scratch.

I'd expect the scratch to be likely with a vet middle 6 winger brought in via UFA.

And so for scratches

Dman
Offensive forward sub (clarke)
Defensive forward sub (bastian)

And apparently, Struble and a fifth round pick would be enough

I remember the one time we played Montreal and I guess Hischier did an interview there in French…next day we saw a dozen of Hischier to Habs trades in here.

The valuations for that one are:

Fehevary 13th overall
Malenstyn 79th overall
Holtz 20th overall

I'm like 50/50 on if I'd do it. But I'm like 95% sure Caps brass wouldn't unless someone is sitting at 10 that they absolutely love

i think switch to pick to the 10th overall. i Know he is probably not worth that, but i thinks thats the minimum of a ''too good to pass offer'' given the assets NJ has.

On NHL game 24 your offer would be more than enough, but the habs are not looking at all to move him and i dont think they trust their back up or their young goalies enough to go on without monty.

I might be mistaken but im going off on Hughes comment about the direction of the team. im not saying i necessarely agree with it.

Completely understandable to make that request, but a hard pass going that high from NJD, which I’m sure you also understand

Which there should be. Caps desperately need a number 1 dman in the system one of Leshunov, Silayev, Dickinson, Parekh, Yakemchuk or Buium should be there.

I can’t believe I’m saying this. Marty and Malenstyn are two of my favorite players. But Caps accept.

Would you take Milano instead of Malenstyn?
