If DeBrusk would sign for that he would already have a new contract in Boston.

Detroit isn't retaining on Maatta. Change the 3rd and the 6th to a 4th and remove the retention. Then you are good to go!

He needs a change of scenery and a guy like Petterson would open up his game a lot! And Boston could use Lindholm this actually makes a lot of science for both clubs

Raty would be a nice surprise if he's up next season

Actually think you are spot on here with the value! He is a decent 4/5th D on a team and his deal isn’t crazy! 2-4ths for this deal make a lot of sense! One for the retention (3rd team maybe) and the other for his value.

I could easily see that he developed well this year and 21/22 age season is where you usually start to see a 2nd rounder make the jump to NHL and his size keeps him from being a liability as he learns the pro game at the big level.

Had Detroit fans tell me before they’d be okay with retaining on Maatta. Would have to adjust a signing but could make it work without retention

I’d love to give him a chance to earn a middle 6 spot at the start of the season. If he struggles you can move Suter or Podz up and put Aman or PDG on the 4th line

It's not about the price! It's about Detroit needing as much cap space as they can get. Especially when Detroit is retaining on a player we could easily move without retention and for a 4th it doesn't sense. So I think that's fair. If it doesn't work for Vancouver, Detroit will move him elsewhere.

The trade itself makes sense. The dollar figure is likely 1.25 to 1.5M short especially with the playoff he just had. The guy plays PP, PK, has plus tools, and forechecks. He plays hurt as well. Inconsistency is present, but my guess for why he is not signed is I believe Boston is holding cap space for Lindholm.

If they trade Ullmark at the draft, I could see them sign him

I’m not a Vancouver fan so I don’t really know honestly I was just suggesting ideas as I feel there is a deal to work out if both parties are interested

Well, I'm not them and what does it matter what another Wings fan said? Do you agree with everything other Vancouver fans post? LOL!!!

I was just using feedback I’ve gotten from multiple other Detroit fans that know what they’d be willing to do better than I do 🤷🏻‍♂️
