Trouba and Goodrow have little to no value. A 5th if you are lucky assuming no salary is retained/taken back
Kakko has little to no value except a 2nd and 4th at most
Lindgren is still good right? If he can play in the top 4 a first would be fair all things considered but probably won't happen so maybe two 2nds/a 2nd and a prospect/bottom pairing dman
Panarin Mika and Kreider you are stuck with, I could see one for one swaps for players of similar age and contracts

Our standing offer for Jacob Trouba is the Pittsburgh 2024 third, which your new colleague @armis doesn't believe.

Rangers accept that. If we took back Mikheyev’s full contract could that offer be bumped? Seen him being attached with 2nds to move.

Rangers would trade Trouba and Goodrow for mid to low picks with no retention. If they retain they’ll want decent value. Lindgren would cost a 1st for sure. The core you mentioned probably won’t be moved but worth a look.

I think Josh Anderson would be good on that Rangers team. He was bad this year, but he's usually good for 20-25 goals a season and play hard and well in the playoffs.

I'd do Anderson (2.5M retained, giving him a 3M cap hit for the next 3 years) + Rangers choice of Barron(22)/Struble(22)/Harris(23) + our 2024 3rd round pick or Pittsburg 2025 2nd round pick for Kaapo Kakko.

Essentially, I think Anderson + a decent young D is fair for Kakko, but I'm retaining 2.5M and giving you a 2nd/3rd cos that contract does sucks.

Would MTL do something like this:

Montreal Canadiens
- Kaapo Kakko (RFA)

New York Rangers
- Josh Anderson ($2M retained)
- Justin Barron (RFA)
- 2024 2nd round pick (COL)

Yeah, I think its really unlikely. Some recent comps for you:

Ryan Mcdonagh (2 years remaining @ $6.75m) fetched a 2nd-for-4th round swap between NSH and TBL. A 2-for-4 swap was the price for a player both way better and 1.25mil cheaper than Trouba

OEL (3 years remaining @ $8.25m) - a trade partner could not be found for. VAN had to buy it out.

I agree with @FoxYou727 that we'd be lucky to see a 5th. Plus we'd likely need to retain. To be clear, I'd be very happy to do this and more to get rid of him.

I doubt Vancouver would want to make a trade where they'd give Mikheyev +++ to get Kakko instead of paying big to another team to get a proven goal scoring winger for Pettersson instead but they could. What would you propose?

I think it would depends on what other moves are available, but I would strongly consider it if I was them. Josh is a great hockey player, but he just doesn't fit our new style as much and he doesn't fit our window.
If I'm the Habs I bite and hope that MSL and a change of air can do Kappo some good! If Barron is what is needed to move the needle for NY I'd be willing to let him go.

Yea **** it, I'd go for it.

Something fun but unrealistic:

Vancouver Canucks
- Chris Kreider
- Kaapo Kakko (RFA)

New York Rangers
- Nils Hoglander
- Ilya Mikheyev
- 2025 1st-round pick

This is a very very fun offer. My instant concern is how many good years does Kreider have left, because I'd assume it's only 1-2 and if that is the case I don't love it, but overall that could be very nice. Someone like Kreider with Pettersson is a dream

He’ll play out his 3 years left on his contract on an elite level imo. He’s gonna play with an elite center opposed to Zibanejad who is hardly a 1C. I think it’s risky for both sides in a way but it’s the move that can put Vancouver in serious contention.

If Van believes Kreider can stay at that elite level, I think I pull that trigger. It would be tough cap wise to lose Hoglander but Kreider and Pettersson is a dream. I really just thought Kreiders contract still had 5 years left.

Nope. $6.5M for three years. Extremely favorable. I’m sure NYR wouldn’t mind retaining as well 👀

Comps don't mean $h!t when we know what our GM is looking for. Pat Verbeek practically named Jacob Trouba as a RhD he'd be interested in at the beginning of the off-season, except that would have been tampering, so he didn't. (If you want to talk "comparable," consider the parallels between Radko Gudas, whom Verbeek signed, and Trouba.) By the way, the McDonagh reference is off because McDonagh is only $870,000 cheaper over two seasons than Trouba -- cap is utterly irrelevant to Anaheim. And Trouba is 5 years younger.

The main issue is Mrs. Trouba's medical career and commitment. Given that, I would think that Los Angeles (along with Minneapolis) is one of the few places to which he'd be willing to relocate from NY.

What would a little bit of retention cost? Leave some room for another upgrade sounds pretty intriguing to me...

Kreider has to submit teams he won't move to soon. What if Mika waived his NTC NMC to stay with Chris. A Bromance Blockbuster. Then the Rangers can go for Guentzel - Stamkos - draft picks. Thoughts!!!
