Toronto and Boston decline. Toronto can just take Ulmark for the 1st round pick. Plus, you need to pay a way more for getting rid of Rackel and for taking Robertson. Trades should work both ways. Here I see benefits for Pens only.

Your LDs are not strong for a playoff team and bottom lines are pretty weak. Plus, I don’t see how this group would fix power play. You have good names but it’s not what Pens need. Robertson is not a 3rd liner, Pavelski is useful in top6 offense only. Your 3rd line will finish a season with -30.

Guentzel will not sign with Pens and not for 8.7MM. Be can get 10MM at least in a market. Plus, he would not win with Pens in the next 3-4 years. What is the point for him to go for the first pick in 2026 with 2MM less to what he can make with stronger teams.

No one is reading a 1st for an unproven goalie (basically 99% of nhl goalies) carrying term & significant cap hit. Seems like a pretty simple idea, not sure why so many struggle with it. The only goalies that could demand a 1st are the few that teams aren’t trading. Easy and obvious decline from the Leafs 🤦🏻

Yeah but the trade isn’t a 1st for Jarry…it’s a trade back of about 30 picks. Plus leafs get POJ for Robertson and Bemstrom as a sweetener.

Why would a team trade their - relatively - young goalie that they just signed to a multi year extension 🤔? It’s not like you have next great goalie in minors ready to go. Goalies with term and big cap hits just don’t get traded - either they’re too valuable (Vasilevsky, shysterskin, Demko, etc) or their ticket is too big. I think the Leafs would have interest in Ndeljkovic but not jarry

That’s just simply not true goalie trades happen all of the time. Star goalies get traded more than star players.

Yes they do…Luongo, Fleury, Varlamov, Hasek, Roy, Theodore….+ many more bigger “star” goalies than Ullmark.

That’s your list - how about we stick to the last decade 😂? Which eliminates every ‘example’ you listed, so thx for proving my point 🤦🏻.

And I never said goalies or star goalies don’t get traded… I said “Goalies with term and big cap hits just don’t get traded”.
The clear inference being - there is no reason to trade a goalie with term unless they are underperforming. If they are performing - why would you trade them? Flakiest position in the sport - if you have a reliable goalie, you keep him.
