Canes v6

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This concept centers around Florida needing to gains some cap space for their top priority free agents (Montour, Reinhart, Lundell, etc.) I'm sure they wouldn't want to move Bennett and maybe they make a different move to keep him along with the rest but in this scenario he's the casualty. In gaining cap space they also replenish some draft capital and get a young cost controlled 3C as Lundell takes a bigger role as long-term 2C. Thoughts on value? I could've put others in the deal or can go more future heavy and removing Drury if that's a better fit for FLA.

I think value on Necas/Schmaltz deal is in the ball park but maybe not. I think I'd also rather go Crouse than Schmaltz so could flip that and adjust the trade details.

Got lazy at the end and didn't feel like re-doing trades to fit the cap fully so I put Fast on LTIR. Don't think that actually happens but he does have a pretty scary neck injury that they haven't provided a ton of info on so don't think he's out of the woods yet. Could get retention on Schmaltz (or Crouse has lower salary) so that should do the trick if needed.

I think this team is pretty deep and has both high-end talent as well as a ton of depth. Not too many glaring holes assuming Kooch can take the wheel and prove he's capable as a full-time starter.

Utah isn’t adding a 2nd for a worse player, despite their age gap

What’s a fair offer? I think schmaltz is more proven and consistent but only has 2 years left while Necas is less consistent with higher potential and younger.

I mean you could probably throw a pick at the Caps along with KK and we'd still say no. Y'all made your own bed with that one

no to the bennet deal. we know we wont pay his next deal.

schmaltz deal is a no. he isnt a good enough caliber of player to trade necas for. add in schmaltz doesnt fix any of our issues. perimeter based, not great on defense, small, and not a FO guy.
TB aint retaining. no need for Jeannot either.

I’ve seen a bunch of caps fans say they’d take KK on anywhere from giving a late pick for him to FC to getting a late pick for him. Agree he doesn’t have much value but sounds like there is interest around the league. Maybe they have to sweeten pot a bit but don’t think it’s unlikely somebody takes a shot at him. Canes could buy him out too or keep him another year and make a decision next year.

I doubt the Caps go anywhere near KK even if we get a second in return. His contract is horrible.

Did you read the trade description for Tampa?

Maybe not but still improved the team and fills 2C for us. I like Drury but at the end of the day he’s replaceable and a late first is worth it.

Could do Crouse instead of schmaltz. Schmaltz is still a very good, consistent player despite his size. Have watched quite a bit of Yotes play over the years and he still gets to middle of ice so not sure where perimeter player is coming from other than a size based assumption?

Tampa isn’t paying for retention - read the description. Jeannot would be a worthwhile shot at a buy low candidate and fits style of play in the bottom 6 well.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen you say any player or trade is worth it. Would love to see what you would do instead of just saying no to everything and not offering any ideas.

Maybe not. Could buy him out if nobody in the league is interested at FC or with a mid to high pick sweetener. Sounds like there is some interest tho so who knows.

Yea I dunno why Caps fans are doing that. We have Strome/McMichael/Lapierre/Dowd pretty much penciled in down the middle for opening night, and if there's anything the Caps should be trying to find, it's a top 6 guy that can score. Maybe if he only had a year or two left I'd be more open to taking a flyer on him and sliding McMichael to wing, But for a team that desperately needs scoring, taking on that contract for a guy who hovers around 15 goals a year ain't worth it

The value is there but, Tampa is not retaining cap. you will probably have to send a 4th for a 3rd team to be involved and retain.
