SJ Acquire Schneider Kakko from NYR Kotkaniemi from CAR Sign Bertuzzi DeMelo

Created by: CheechYou
Team: 2024-25 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 3, 2024
Published: Jun. 4, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sharks stay young with the adds, except for DeMelo and Bertuzzi, who are still very effective and needed at their positions to stabilize the rest of the roster. Kotkaniemi can be bought out by SJ by the end of the season if he's ineffective, the cap hit would be less than 1mil. However, here he gets a chance with (fellow Fins) Granlund Kakko and company to have a great year similar to what Granlund himself went through last season. I think he's a good insurance candidate to replace Couture, and if Couture's healthy, Kotkaniemi can be slotted to the wing.

I feel like the Rangers decline both those, but I’m curious to hear from their fans.

I think that's a huge overpay for Schneider. the cost to move up 4-6 spots from 14 overall would be MUCH less than what they're giving up there, and could get an equally, if not much better d-man

I think that's not enough for Kakko though

And I think that Sharks should be getting more than just a 3rd for Kotkaniemi

Rangers aren’t trading Schneider, but I have a feeling Kakko is gone. He isn’t worth much, but I hope Drury can salvage some assets

No interest in Kunin. Probably picks and waiver exempt RW

The canes shouldn’t give up picks to get rid of him. Either buy him out or give him another year

Unless someone wants him for a late pick/future considerations

NYR pass. Kakko for Bordeleau they'd do but Schneider isn't getting traded.

KK the sweetener has to be more then a 3rd for the length of his deal
Bertuzzi makes no sense for the sharks. We should be adding cap dump up front and real D men
