Why would the Canes do that?
Burns has been great for them, other teams could and should easily beat that.

I wonder if they actually did that trade whether it would free up the retention slot that SJ is currently using for Burns?

Canes pass. Contrary to some loud fans on here it doesn’t make sense to move Burns and lose our whole right side potentially.

Not sure why, but there have been multiple posts on this site with Canes fans trying to dump Burns. I guess they feel his cap hit could be better spent elsewhere. If the Canes are dumping Burns the Sharks would definitely take him back. I'd take less than the 3rd. The 3rd was based on a Canes fan's post.

It's unclear, but I think the answer is yes, which is one of the reasons the Sharks would take him back.
