Is Tkachuk to NYR a Possibility

Created by: hockey101
Team: 2024-25 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 6, 2024
Published: Jun. 6, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously unlikely (although never impossible), but it's for discussion purposes. The Rangers can acquire a high caliber, impact player. They have the assets to do so. Would Brady make the Rangers a more threatening Cup contender? The assets given to Ottawa are plenty with four solid and young NHL regulars with potential. Chychrun is a bit of a risk for the Rangers with his injury woes in the past, but he had a healthy season and is a solid overall defenseman. Miller is a big loss as he oozes potential, but he may develop better in Ottawa with less pressure.

Cuylle may be the biggest loss for the Rangers in the long run. Some compare him to possibly becoming like Iginla. I'd say not that high, but he can definitely be a great power forward. Kakko is a wild card, could work could not work. But, he can get plenty of ice time and patience from Ottawa as well.

In all, it can be done.

Not sure where the tkachuk speculation came from but I can't see the sens ever trading him. This trade suggestion wouldn't even get Brady let alone the other pieces involved.

Well, since the Ottawa GM came out and outright said he is not trading him but rather building the team around him, I'm going with a NO.

Im positive it would Jacob C. Because of Miller and cuylle and would be an overpayment but it's not in the universe of what it would take to land tkachuk.

That is one of the worst offers I've ever seen. And you put chychrun in with retention and a 2nd and 3rd.

How many star players have actually been traded for a great return? I'll await that response. Sens fans, you think this is not a good offer, but it is. Brady will not re-sign in four years, and you will not get what you wish to get for him.

Detroit has a ton of cap space according to Cap friendly, and they are losing a ton of players.

Not after re-signing their RFAs, and figuring out what to do with Ghost, DP, Fish, and Kane.

They have at least $20M in cap space. Raymond is really the main contract. Veleno not hard to re-sign. I doubt the UFAs will stay.

Feel free to build a team for Detroit starting with this trade. Seider and Razor will consume half of the allotted cap if term is maxed. The RFAs should be easy signs (Berggren aside), the UFAs (exception of Ghost if rumors are smoke), are most likely gone, although Fish would be nice.

Need to upgrade to the back end, replacie top 6 production. Goodrow would be too expensive for his role with Detroit, and would hinder significant upgrades.

Lol

I've seen an overwhelming number of Tkachuk post. My general sense is that all of these folks should check into the Betty Ford Center, In general, the proposal is Tkachuk for:

1- 4-5 young players (including 1-2 prospects).

2 - As many late round draft picks as they can get away with (when the Rangers already have no 2nd rounders for the next three years and no 3rd rounders for the next two years)

3 - I don't know, let's throw in a player to be named later, and, for good measure, a couple of puck bags.

Earth to Ottawa, Brady may be the best thing since sliced bread in the Canadian capital, but he closes right after opening night on Broadway.
