Few Ideas

Created by: GMan25
Team: 2024-25 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 8, 2024
Published: Jun. 8, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Joseph: With the rumour of Joseph potentially on the way out, I think that is a mistake unless they are looking to upgrade from him. I think this is difficult to do because then you need to find a speedy and strong PK player to replace him.
Brannstrom: Proved he can play defence and still never given the offensive opportunity, a team that acquires him will get a steal.
Chychrun: On the way out, I think he will have a career year next season, but not the player the team needed to acquire when they traded for him.
Norris: Give him the Giroux treatment, take faceoffs then move to wing.
Pinto: I think a 2-3 year bridge deal is best right now. Unless they can dump Hamonic's 1.1M somehow, can potentially get 3-4 years for 3.5M AAV. A very complicated negotiation since Pinto has proven to be a liability from shoulder injury and gambling related suspension.

  1. Necas, Martin [RFA Rights]
CAR
  1. Brännström, Erik [RFA Rights]
  2. Joseph, Mathieu
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
I know this trade is undervalued, but Canes are looking for players and not picks for Necas.
Brannstrom will replace DeAngelo (and a nicer person)
Joseph is the type of player Carolina will love to have, fast and strong defensively.
2.
BOS
  1. Chychrun, Jakob
  2. Forsberg, Anton
Additional Details:
Chychrun would be a good pickup to play behind Lindholm.
Forsberg to backup Swayman and a good goalie to support Swayman and could easily have a similar relationship to Ullmark.

These seem skewed in value to Ottawa.

Don’t see Boston taking Forsberg for free and that Necas deal isn’t even remotely close

Canes are going to want a close to equal player or they’re just going to keep him. Think Pinto

You're looking at Pinto and the Boston 1st to even open the conversation for Necas. This is a comical offer, even if the Canes weren't overvaluing Necas like they are

Necas will cost much more than that. Wouldn’t mind trying to add him but I think the price will be too high

Pinto and the Boston 1st is kind of crazy for a player that the entire league knows youre actively shopping and has also had his father come out and say that Necas isnt happy and is open to a move.

I'm not saying that it's impossible to get similar value but this is giving me shades of the DeBrincat situation. Just be aware that realistically equal value is likely not coming your way with ufa status so close and no deal currently in place. If he was to strongarm his way to a 1 or 2 year deal with the intention of leveraging free agency then there is no justification for Staios to inclde Pinto at all, let alone with 25th.

I dont see a fit with the two teams as trade partners unless Ottawa's side is centred around Chychrun which I think is unlikely.

No, that's the problem. Carolina ARE NOT shopping him. Carolina want to keep him. His father said he wants top line ice time, or to be played as a full time enter. Both are reasonable asks for Necas.

The problem here is that NECAS DOES NOT WANT OUT. He wants alternative deployment. Do not blow this out of proportion. DeBrincat wouldn't sign, regardless. Necas is willing to come back. There's no reason for Carolina to move him for anything less than Pinto + Boston 1st as a STARTING point. They see Necas as a star, and he will be in ANY other team in the league.

There's probably not a trade, but there is 0 reason for Carolina to consider moving Necas without a return like that

Huge decline, Pinto has more value than Necas. Pinto, centre who mins over 50% of faceoffs, scored 20 goals in his first season playing more than 12 games and it took Necas his 4th season.
