Youth Movement

Created by: Goal_Dancers
Team: 2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 10, 2024
Published: Jun. 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Marner (pre-signed to an 8 year extension) for #2 overall and Leafs own 2025 pick, and a B prospect seems like fair value. CHI gets a passer for Bedard, Leafs get assets to move for immediate help as well as a top draft pick

Flip #24 overall and next year's 1st (lottery protected) to CAR for Jarvis (pre-signed to an 8 year extension) and Kochetkov. CAR is in real cap trouble if they want to retain their stars like Skjei, Necas and Guentzel. They save some money and get some assets for their RFA they can't afford

Flip out Kampf, Liljegren and Jarnkrok for some picks and bring up some young players to prove their worth and create internal competition for spots.

Sign Pesce and Zadorov to shore up the right side and Stephenson as #2C allowing Tavares to drop to #3C.

4 young wingers all pushing for icetime and a quality young RHD to develop with the solid vets on D and a good young tandem in goal

They won’t - and they still won’t trade Jarvis. Trading RFAs without ARB rights and a goalie on a value contract doesn’t create cap space. It creates roster holes that cost you more to fill.

Simple Salary Cap 101

Necas is the one getting traded not Jarvis. Kochetkov is already signed for multiple more years. Remove the picks and add Matthews if you want both players

This is some unhinged and detached from reality stuff. You want the canes to trade two of their young, cost controlled and extremely internally valuable pieces for two late firsts?? You’re looking at the wrong guys, and there’s really not a trade fit in general between these two teams as it stands.

Just wow.

Well, I guess the Canes just counter with a 5th round pick a several broken sticks for Matthews, since both proposals are equally likely to happen.
