Stamkos Stays - Cup Run

Created by: tylong410
Team: 2024-25 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 11, 2024
Published: Jun. 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Resign Stammer and Duke. The rest may be unlikely, but I think moving Sergachev is the best answer here (and Bjugstad plays a solid 200 feet of hockey). Utah also needs to increase cap hit a good bit to comply. Seattle is rumored to be looking to be "tougher" so maybe TJ is the guy? Can we get Gourde back somehow (The Kraken had him on the 3rd line a lot)? Sheary for peanuts... need the Syracuse kids to start stepping up.

Durzi at 3m? Utah keeps Durzi at 5m and have no need the for the more expensive Sergachev.

Hard to think that this edition of the Lightning are anywhere near Cup capable. They have slipped into the middling playoff group playoff teams.

No the original post was delusional. Sergachev for Durzi, Durzi's new contract. Does anyone think Tampa is true Cup contender now??? There are just a handful of contenders in the East, and Tampa (and the Leafs) aren't ones.

Why would anyone pay him $5M? He didn't drastically improve...and Utah has the cap space (and need to hit the minimum)...

You need cap space, so you aren't getting top guys in return, not to mention he's coming off a massive injury and all that after a really sloppy first 2 months of hockey. Getting a 2nd round pick and 2 guys that fit into the line up immediately isn't even remotely bad.

Why is seattle utilizing him for the 3rd line? And at $5M+ ? makes no sense. they get tougher with TJ and some picks...they aren't contenders next year anyway.

All teams have to hit the minimum and Utah won't have any problem, especially if they want to spend in free agency.
Durzi did improve but Sergachev dipped considerably last season.

lol sergachev is obviously not being moved, but in a scenario where he was brisebois will just let him repeat his 22-23 szn then trade him for a ~1st 2nd B prospect
