Malkin is great but investing a prospect the team is high on and a 1st for 1-2 years of the end of his career is grand larceny

Nothing realistic about this, just a fun thought experiment.

Players like Crosby, Pettersson, Letang, Acciari are the tenured vets who can hopefully pass the culture before some of them are traded.

Potential TDL sells: Crosby, Pettersson, Bunting, Rakell, Pionk. Left the last retention slot for Crosby to get a massive haul.

Pittsburgh immediately fills their draft capital and prospect pool with these deals to a decent level. A rebuild for the Penguins will probably at minimum take 5 years. I'd bet on it being another 7 years before they make the playoffs again in real life. This year was their last chance, New Jersey is taking that last Eastern playoff spot next year.

Canucks pass to much to pay for a guy past his prime.

Dobber prospects had him at a future 3rd pair guy, so I judged based off that.

Pittsburgh can have Ottawa's 5th round pick in the upcoming draft for Iafallo.

Assuming the trade with Winnipeg doesn't fall apart.

Scouting on capfriendly has him as a second pair which is exactly where the Canucks need cheap ELC contracts. Still an overpay

In that case you can swap Pettersson with a less good prospect. That was my intention anyways.

I swapped it to Max Sasson.

He's worth more than that.

If he is, then you'll take less for EK65.

Because Winnipeg declines too.

This is all for play. All the trades are a general framework for what I think each player is worth. I personally wouldn’t be mad if this trade happened in real life, but that is because I really like EK65.

Probably less because of his injury history.
