FYI, Celebrini isn’t playing next year. Wants another year in NCAA.

OTT declines. A korpi buyout would cost them less than $1mil for the first two years; after which the cap rises by such a significant amount that the final $1.3 of the later years will be wholly insignificant. Not worth trading away a 1st round pick for.

I wish more fans on here thought like you man. Our prospect pool sucks and the buyout is cheap so I have no idea why people would want to trade a 1st rounder just to save 1.3M$ on a couple years where the cap is going to be over 90M$ lol.

That's not true. He said he could see the benefits to possibly staying another year. He's certainly not going to make that decision before he's actually drafted and talks to the GM

Right??? Especially when they include retention that is so close to the actual buy out cost that it makes even less sense.

Teams don't pay to dump onerous contracts nearly as much as people on CapFriendly believe. In particular, there's absolutely no reason for Ottawa to pay anything more than a fourth to get rid of Korpisalo.

Not true, he says “undecided” but he’s answered questions “if” he went back why it would be good for him. I still expect him to come out
