And Flyers declines, no need to dump Johansen.

Also they are not signing Lindholm.

Meh. If this happened I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The Poehling contract is in the wheelhouse at 2 yr $3.8M total. Fills a need at 2C and 4C. Poehling has to be an improvement on R Johnson and Macker. Johanson might be able to keep Nazar in AHL to develop more.

Johansen ain't solving any problems for you.

- Briere says he doesn’t expect Ryan Johansen back and that “He doesn’t think he can play hockey.”

And that's also one reason why Flyers ain't paying anything to dump him.

I didn't say he was going to solve a problem. I said with him on the roster it allows Nazar to spend time in AHL and develop. Having Johanson at $6.9M for 1 season is fine. The team isn't expecting to be good and it helps them get to cap floor. I don't think Hawks are actively looking for this but if it happens it happens.

Maybe "problem" was poor choice of wording, but still having Johansen or not, he's not going to be in your playing roster. The only reason having him is to keep him in IR list to reach cap floor.

Wild that he'd be our 1st line C and probably the 3rd line C on VAN if he stuck around. Shows how far off we hypothetically are.

Also Lindholm will get a lot more IMO. Top C on the market, 2-way, strong playoffs. He'll get at least 9, maybe more than 10 from a team willing to overpay.

No, the max I can saw for Lindholm is 8 maybe 8.5 millions. Lindholm is a first C. and he probably wants to play in a competitive team, so philly is a good place for him, in the fact that they do not have a first C.

well he can only get 8 years from VAN, if I understand correctly. Everyone else's max is 7 years. If you're declaring Lindholm a first C, then he'll be getting more money than you're stating.

And you're entitled to your opinion but this is a weak UFA class and the cap is rising for the first time in years, guys are going to get viciously overpaid. Fans also need to start recalculating what is fair pay in this shiny new world of a rising salary cap. I wouldn't be surprised if someone offers Lindholm 10, Reinhart 12, and Stamkos 10 if they all hit UFA.

IMO Flyers don't go after anyone in this UFA class unless they have 100% confirmation that Michkov is coming over AND that they can move a contract or two, like Atkinson, Ellis, Ristolainen, Peterson, or Couturier, to an interested party without a terrible overpayment of assets. They'll be picking up some high ceiling depth UFAs like Vrana, Steel, and Mantha, I'd wager.
