Sabres need one bottom six forward, not 3.

There's actually four. And they change the complexion of the bottom six.

I would think the Avs would have to seriously consider that.

Atkinson is washed so I'm assuming you could get more production out of a cheaper Kulich. That's quite the package for Colton since Colorado needs the cap space. I like the McLeod trade. Lomberg seems unnecessary.

What is this? Colton is not worth that much. Why do you need Atkinson if his contract will probably be buyout.

Atkinson had bottom-six/lower-end third line production last season coming off of a serious injury. Worth the shot for me and I'd expect more progress this season.

Bottom line, I want them to make the playoffs. I believe this is a playoff team, at the very least least. Kulich and Krebs don't give me the same feeling and Lomberg is an ass on the ice. Which is exactly what this team needs on the fourth line.

If you want to pry a bona fide third line center away from a contender, one that has three years left on a very reasonable deal, you pay the man. The object is to win now and neither the 1st rounder nor Krebs does that for this team.

Then you're looking at another third-line center if Colorado is asking that much for Colton, especially since he has NTC.

I don't think his NTC kicks in untill July 1.

He's a bona fide 3C. Quality costs. You either go with quality or you go cheap, like trying Krebs there and wallowing away all season wishing something of significance had happened to fill that hole

Id take that if I was the Avs. Hard to part with Colton but they would be crazy not to do the deal.

Nichushkin being out makes it real tough to part with Colton

I don’t know that it does. I think the added cap space allows for a rebalancing of the team. It is my opinion that Colton was signed to a slightly larger salary than they expected and they took a risk that he or johansen would be able to play 2c. Now that they have a 2c (hopefully for the long term) they need to go cheaper on the bottom 6. I’m hoping that Nuke will be replaced by Landy and middlestat. If we downgrade 3c perhaps we can keep Drouin… if he wants stability or to keep playing on the 1sr line.
