Could a gross overpayment of futures pry Batherson out of OTT

Created by: sabretooth12
Team: 2024-25 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 11, 2024
Published: Jun. 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
OTT
  1. Jokiharju, Henri [RFA Rights]
  2. Komarov, Vsevolod
  3. Kulich, Jiri
  4. 2024 1st round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Sabres probably wouldn't do this but I'd love to see what Senators fans think given they likely do not want to go in a "futures" type of direction - although Kulich is NHL ready

If Im Ottawa you HAVE to do that.... now Buffalo would never offer that because it is so much of an overpayment, but that pick is #11. They could easily flip that and replace batherson. or select a good winger then still have all the other young guys. If im Ottawa i do that in a heartbeat

I think for a guy who can play middle 6 now and the 11th pick I’d do it

Definitely not smart for Buffalo. Buffalo can get a solid player at 11, and Kulich is looking like he’s going to be a stud.

would you do it for a 2025 1st top 10 protected and the same package?

OTT counters Bos 1st, Jarventie, Sokolov for JJP, see i cn made dumb trades too.

OTT has zero reason to do this, it would guarantee a bottom 10 finish and Brady and Chabot demanding to be traded.

would not do Baths used underwear for quinn yet alone Bath himself and Bath has far more value than a injury prone player who has **** at the NHL level.

Yeah I know who he is. But that isn’t what ya said. Slow down, every player on Ott can’t be the bestest player that ever played, at least while their on the outside of the playoff picture

Batherson is Olofsson Jr. He's a mess defensively. Not a guy you win with in the lineup. No thanks.

thats tricky....probably not tbh.... the sabres are due for a breakout year ... batherson only helps that. we saw signs of dominance last year from luokkenen. they very well coud be a playoff team this year expecially with batherson. so that pick could be 20-30. to me that pick is the best part of the trade. but i have to be honest im not a true sabres fan i dont know much about the propsects.

To me the Sabres are missing out on a HUGE opportunity right now. Expecially last season where good players were wanting 1 year deals and ice time. They should have been signing assets to 1 year deals and moving them for pics and prospects at the deadline if theyre not in it. The fact they only have their own picks in the first 3 rounds is baffling to me. They should be signing vets and moving them when theyve been out of the playoffs. Similar to what Anaheim did with Lybushkin, Shattenkirk etc.

Is this based on analytics or just they eye test? I haven't watched much Ottawa hockey for good reason

Considering the number of games Quinn has missed with injuries, that could be a trade to make.

Quinn will be an restricted free agent after the 2024-2025 season. He has to prove himself in playing more games and producing points.
