That is a crazy expensive blueline. Maybe you guys send back Samuelsson, and we send back Smith. I would also much prefer that 2024 1st haha.

It is but Clifton and Pettersson would both likely be out after next year. Replaced with ELCs/league min. vets.

Ahh I thought you would want to extend MP28 after giving up that much value.

It would be nice but I can't see spending that kind of money on another dman. We're also getting out from Skinner's contract which although he's still a solid player gives us a lot of flexibility. If he's that much better than Sammy maybe we move him to re-sign MP next summer instead? Need a healthy season from him to decide.

there is no way the penguins are taking on a 32 year old 9 mil winger

That's just out the question here.
When....not if.... the team starts their rebuild, maybe you will be able to move that contract on them for a price.
But they aren't giving up MP in order to take that contract when he scored 40 some points last year, let alone give up MP to take that contract and only get an unprotected 1st.

They're also getting an nhl-ready middle six winger with recent first rounder upside... Let's not be daft and pretend he's nothing.

NHL ready, he's listed at not even 160lbs.
Even if he did fill out and turn into a decent player, it's not going to make the penguins take on that Skinner contract in a year they are trying to resign Crosby.
