Silly Casey, the only prospects and young players with value are the ones already under Montreal control. You’ll take the Winnipeg first and Jordan Harris and like it.

I have no idea why Guhle is valued so highly other than he's a Habs player.

Might be because you don’t have any skill evaluating developing players..

I don’t see MTL moving Guhle. He’s the future top 4 with Reinbacher. Hugues is building around them for the future. While Johnson is a good prospect also, I don’t see HABS moving back on development since Guhle is in front of Johnson at this time as an NHL player.

Nah.. You just don’t know how to evaluate players but think you do.

Guhle is a huge ask. But not untouchable. He has some offensive potential going untapped playing behind Matheson.

I am a big believer in one Adam Engstrom, which makes me willing to part with Guhle.

I’m not that high on Johnson and, for Guhle to be going the other way, I would insist that Chinakhov be included instead. Here’s my counter offer:

To MTL
Chinakhov + Boqvist + Laine ($3M retained) + 2024 #4 pick OA

To CLB
Guhle + 2024 #5 pick OA

I may sound biased because I’m a Habs fan myself. But Guhle is really showing himself as a top 4/ top pairing D man at only 22 yo. That’s why we value him so high. Johnson also shows the potential to be a future top 6 forward. But he hasn’t had the same success Guhle has been having so far. That’s why we value him so high.

Fair, doesn't need to be the Leafs necessarily, but he'll probably go for a mid-rounder at TDL. If you'd like some veteran utility depth that can play anywhere, he should be available.

I don't either, and it was actually suggested by @GuyGuyGuy on this thread: EASY TO FIX LIKE WADDELL SAID. It was interesting enough to test out.

It could make some sense if MTL views Reinbacher and Mailloux as the top-4 RD, and Hutson and 5OA (Silayev, Dickinson, etc) as the top-4 LD in the future. It's an idea, but I don't think either team does the swap in the near future.

To Columbus, Johnson > Chinakhov, though both should be top-6 forwards. If Guhle becomes the odd man out due to drafting a defenseman at 5OA, I think a swap with CBJ makes sense regardless of whether it's Chinakhov or Johnson.

As for a counteroffer: it's not bad, but there's probably too many moving parts at this time. I'd personally be okay with it, though.

I'm high on both, which is why a swap might make sense depending on how the draft shakes out.

FWIW, I think it makes the most sense for Columbus to just take best D-man available at 4OA, and MTL to take best forward available at 5OA. But if both take BPA and it's a forward (4) and defenseman (5)...who knows.
