horny 3 year projection read description

Team: 2024-25 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 11, 2024
Published: Jun. 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
for a future projection thats kind of just a fun thing to think about

25-26 offseason
draft nygard or sennecke 13th overall
sign luke hughes to 7.25mil x 8 years
dump palat after season assuming the cap rises to 92mil
let pettersson walk in FA and play hatakka (signed 1.25x2yrs) next season as 3LD
arseni gritsyuk replaces palat as 3LW
resign lazar(1.75milx3yrs) and puljajarvi(.975milx1yrs)
let allen walk and have gus mentor daws who is signed (.975milx1yrs)
trade graeme clarke and 2025 first for lawson crouse
sign a veteran 3c like yanni gourde to a (3milx1yrs) leaving the team with around 1mil cap space

lineup
meier-nico-mercer
stamkos-hughes-bratt
gritsyuk-gourde-crouse
carrier-lazar-puljujarvi

brodin-hamilton
hughes-marino
hatakka-nemec

gustafsson
daws

the following offseason 26-27

assuming cap rises to projected 97mil
let gustafsson walk
let gourde walk
re-sign stamkos 5milx1 year to be 3c or let him walk (Last Ride Bergeron/pavelski type signing)
sign nemec 8milx8yrs
sign gritsyuk to bridge deal 3.75milx3yrs
sign carrier 2milx2yrs
sign puljujarvi 1.25milx2yrs
bring in lenni hameenaho as 3LW rookie (.975x3yrs)*ELC*
sign daws 3milx2yrs
if Daws doesnt progress as i hope trade him and 2026 first for a young starting goalie like an askarov
sign markstrom 3milx1yr
1A 1B tandem hopefully daws takes over under the leadership of a declined jacob markstrom.
all signings in total add up to 96.85mil (just under cap)

lineup
meier-nico-mercer
gritsyuk-hughes-bratt
hameenaho-stamkos-crouse
carrier-lazar-puljujarvi

brodin-hamilton
hughes-nemec
hatakka-marino

Daws
Markstrom

27-28 off-season

assuming projected 101mil cap
let crouse walk
replaced by sennecke or nygard (whomever we draft in 2024)
stamkos retires
sign william karlsson as replacement (5milx2yrs)
re-sign nico (9milx8yrs)
re-sign marino (4milx4yrs)
re-sign hatakka (2.75x4yrs)
markstrom retires
sign binnington or gibson to backup (3milx1yr)
this would take up roughly 97.275mil leaving room for signings the next season(gonna need it) and potential rentals

lineup
meier-nico-mercer
gritsyuk-hughes-bratt
hameenaho-karlsson-sennecke/nygard
carrier-lazar-puljujarvi

hughes-nemec
brodin-hamilton
hatakka-marino

Daws
Gibson

not gonna give a full projection for the following season but gonna say that daws is gonna need a raise hamilton and brodin will probs get 1-2 year deals at lower salaries also need to re-sign that 4th line which im really fond of as a go to shut down line. also need to save money for hameenaho and sennecke/nygard who are both going to likely receive upwards of 6mil extensions or 4mil bridge deals aswell as gritsyuk and mercer who would need a deal soon. also i would like to find a way to make casey fit in this team but that is relatively difficult maybesomeone could take him in one of my trade packages if what i offered was insufficient.

why would you pay that just to let MP walk?

I don't think the value is bad, especially as a rental.

hes a 1 year rental. dont get me wrong he is an amazing Defensive defenseman but if we are being realistic the pens are going to probablyu sellers and that would probably be a deadline deal. your also getting a legit bottom pair defensive defenseman who could develop similarly to MP and a recent first round pick in stillman. also those draft picks were the toffoli picks who was arguably a more valuable rental in itself.

brodin for holtz siegs and a second isnt bad value. my thoughts probably going to have to add another good prospect or high pick but its not far off. also hes literally just a siegenthaler upgrade and. minnesota is getting back a legit top 4 defensive defenseman on a very team friendly deal which is the type of thing theyre going to need with the current state of the buyouts.

hes just a sick rental that would really help this teams success for this season while our D prospects are still developing.

Minny still wouldn't do it, jonas has a NMC and is on a massive team friendly deal

6 mil is still alot and hes gonna be older towards the end of that deal. minny isnt in the greatest cap situation and needs to sign guys like rossi

pettersson is just a rental. brodin is an upgrade over siegs the team would just be objectively better for no real consequences.

The buyouts have one year left. We will keep Brodin. And I hate the 10 for Gus+13 trade too, so all around rejection from Minnesota.

The wild only have one year left with the massive buyout hit, then they will have plenty of cap
