Anaheim doesn’t need or want another LHD, and we aren’t trading Zegras and 3OA for 5OA laugh

Oh wait, we also are trading a 1st this year for a 2nd next year

    Mighty bad

Devils have zero interest in Mike Matheson. There’s no need for a power play quarterback, the devils have three on the roster already. If Montreal really wants the 10th overall pick, New Jersey needs to ask for one of their “untouchables”.

It’s honestly amazing how bad Canadiens fans are at Armchair GM trades, they might be the worst in the league at this point. That Devils trade is laughable

What possible reason is there for Utah to do this? It absolutely is. There is less than no rational logic in it. Every other trade the other team is at least getting a useful piece back price does nothing but disable Utah's ability to acrue TDL cap space and cost Ryan Smith the real dollars that are the uninsured portion of Prices contract.

Except the entire contract is insured and once the signing bonus is paid, which is in this comment section then all you're doing is using it to get to the floor. It's the same reason they took Webers contract, Prices would still be more money then his was since it would leave like 5 million left to pay.

I don't think new ownership does this, Smith looks like he is willing to spend actual money to get to a competitive level but this is a typical deal that teams do all the time to get to the floor, just depends on the teams strategy

According to Allan Walsh on "agent provocateur" podcast NHL contracts are only insured up to 80% so do I believe you or an NHL agent. Do you have some proof of your statement? Only two reasons to do this I seriously doubt Utah is in either
    1) You have a really bad contract you need to dump to get cap compliant ( i.e. TB trading Tyler Johnson for Brent Seabrook)
2 you need to reach the cap floor and Smith has stated that won't be a problem.
Other than those it's the dumbest thing a GM CAN DO!!

Show anything that's positive for Utah here? Like it or not all the other trades bring useful pieces to the other team even if you think they're overpaid

Positives for them is reaching the cap floor without having to actually pay the money out. That's always been the positive when teams have taken these LTIR contracts on. It's what the league hopes this new owner doesn't do and I don't think he will do, it's more knowing that trades like this Price one do happen and will likely happen again. GMs don't even like doing those trades, taking in a money contract for free is just for ownership to save money, that's always been the only positive from it

They can't acrue TDL cap space and, it costs the team real dollars for absolutely nothing. Now you tell me one positive for Utah ? You can't it doesn't exist. Smiths already made it clear he's not afraid to spend money cap floor won't be an issue dumb assumption. The need $21,000,000 to sign 12 players to reach the floor not an issue

They also don't need to help Montreal for nothing and they only need to spend $21,000,000 on 12 contracts to be cap compliant. How the F*** do you know they won't be they have over$40,000,000 to spend if they want which can make them a serious playoff contender. And they AREN'T A PLAYOFF TEAM NEXT YEAR EITHER? DUMB TRADE. Zero I mean less than zero benefit for Utah

And actually it's 400k this year and 1.5 million next year his contract has another 7.5 million actual dollars next year. By the way billionaires don't become Billionaires by giving their competitors $1,900,000 for nothing

But a billionaire can pay 1.900.000 to have a goalie consultant/instructor for his goaltender

to rebuild a d-corp it takes between 2 to 4 seasons. I'm doing the math behind wink ! They won't throw 20 million to give a bunch of contracts, which is why they've taken so many deadcaps in the last seasons. They want a huge pile of young top 1st rounders to build a long dynasty
