I think Detroit would do that but would the Isles? 🤔

They already have a Holl version in Mayfield. 😬

Yzerman and Lou do have a trade history.

I think you are confused as the blackhawks own the isles pick at 18

Oh my bad.

Hawks fans on CFACGM have been very clear they have no interest in Holl.

Well you obviously do GAF otherwise you wouldn't have created a CFACGM to whine like a baby. 😆

Depending on the price. To move up to #15 imo it's a no-brainer that Chicago accepts. Zaitsev, Tinordi, and Megna are all UFAS so there's a spot for him on the roster as a 7th defenseman. I think there were proposals in the past with Chicago moving assets for him or offering late round picks to dump him. In those scenarios I think Chicago would pass but the available talent at #15 is potentially to good not to make this trade.

DET fans can say that Chiarot, Fabbri, Holl, Husso, and Maata have positive value all they want, but it just isn't true and they will have to pay to move their contracts... See how that logic works when it's thrown back at you? The CHI contingent on CapFriendly are fairly educated on what CHI is trying to do and how they operate. So, when we say that CHI isn't doing a trade, there is probably some level of truth to it.

According to PuckPedia's cap relief calculator, Holl's $3.4M x 2 year contract should take the equivalent of a 27th overall pick to dump. PuckPedia's pick value calculator says that the difference in value between the 18th and 15th overall picks is the equivalent of a late 2nd round pick. That is a HUGE gap in value that CHI is leaving on the table just to trade up 3 spots. So, DET would have to send more. If you were to add Andrew Gibson, I would be pretty happy with that, personally. But I might be higher on him than most.

Easy buddy. It's too early for an aneurysm!!! Grab a cup of coffee and breathe deeply. We'll get through this! Also we accept the offer.

I stand corrected.

Never thought I'd see the day where a CFACGM Hawks fan accepts a Holl trade. 😲

No. It isn't. He is as pure of a cap dump as they come and costs way more than 3 spots to move. Would you take him straight up for a late 2nd? I wouldn't, and that is the value this is proposing.

I disagree depending on who's still available at #15. Davidson may have someone at the top of his list still available and gifts like Moore falling to #19 don't tend to happen often. I think there's a good chance he pulls the trigger on that one.

Whats funny is that all these players DO have value. Their contracts just arent ideal. Can you tell me if Chicago over or underpaid to move up the 2 spots with the isles?

You would not get the Isles 1st to flip 3 spots to take 2 yeas of Holl. The Hawks might send #34 to flip spots, otherwise you would need to send back a 2nd with Holl and 15 to maybe get the Hawks to bite on sending #18.

No they don't. Contracts are what make players into cap dumps. If their production/performance is not cost effective, it makes them a negative asset.

And yes, I can tell you whether CHI underpaid or overpaid in the trade with the Isles. And the answer is neither. The 60th overall pick, which is what they paid to move up, is essentially the EXACT value it would take to both move from 54 to 50 and 20 to 18. It was just a straight up fair trade.

Trading back to dump a salary gives me PTSD from trading the rights to Chychrun to dump Datsyuk’s salary and take Cholowski instead. It’s 1.1 mil to buy him out. Just do that.

You are looking at this in a vacuum and not how Chicago can use the asset. If they don’t want him (no problem there, he sucks), they can just as easily buy him out as Detroit. I don’t like the idea of making this trade for Detroit, but if you don’t think moving up 3 spots in the draft is worth 1.1 mil in cap space the next 4 years for Chicago, I don’t know what to tell you.

Four years* And that isn't what matters. What matters is what that cap and roster space is worth to DET. We don't want or need him. You want the space, make it worth our while. You aren't getting discounts.

Well, again. I'm not trading anything to move Holl. It's too easy to buy him out with minimal cap damage. But, Chicago would be stupid not to capitalize on Detroit's mistake and take the free move up and do what the Wings should have.

I agree, as long as DET is paying for it. Those 3 spots, being equal in value to a late 2nd, is not enough to dump him.

Not true, Hawks fans have made it clear they are willing to take Holl or any of the numerous cap dumps that have been proposed on this site provided they are compensated fairly to do so.

Right, so just like any other fan base right Mr. Yzerman?

Look at the end of the day there is potentially a deal that could be made around Holl to Chicago. I personally don’t believe the proposal above gets it done, the Hawks would be leaving too much value on the table.

As has been mentioned, according to Puckpedia’s cap relief calculator, Holl’s remaining 2 x $3.4m is valued at the 27th pick of the 1st round.

I think the following would be a fair and balanced trade value wise:

To Chicago: Holl and Detroit’s 2024 1st round pick (15 OA)

To Detroit: Chicago’s 2024 2nd round pick (34 OA), Ottawa’s 2024 3rd round pick (71 OA).

4.533 million in cap space (the buyout cost) and salary does not get bought for pick #65 (the net value of flipping 15 for 18). You are short a mid 2nd to the Hawks or only getting 34 instead of 18 coming back as the Hawks are not doing charitable cap relief transactions. Buying out Josh Bailey netted a 2nd and he only cost 2.33 real dollars and 3.83 in cap to buyout as opposed to (4.533/4.533).
