Why would you ever want to pay that much for a 3rd C, Zetterberg is a great player but he is still 3rd C and giving up a hell of a lot of future for him doesnt make sense.

The third line was the difference in winning the first (Stahl, Cooke & Kennedy) and second (HBK) cups in the Crosby era. The first round picks will be probably be in the 25-31 range as long as Sid & Geno are playing for us and are less than a sure thing.

Teams don't put in offer sheets cause it costs 4 first rounders, and you traded 3 first rounders and more for Zettenberg. Pens must be looking at a cap issue if they didn't pay Bonimo more than 4m and let him walk.

I think the teams don't use offer sheets because they piss off the other team's GM, drive up salaries, and the GMs will need to deal with each other in the future, it is a small community.
As far as letting Bonino walk, you can't be too sentimental when dealing with a salary cap.

You Can't Trade Captains They Are Still Under Contracts With Their Teams Until They Retire.
