trade with Colorado....Not Duchene

Created by: cnb17
Team: 2017-18 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 9, 2017

Description
I feel that Colorado is another team that's slightly heavy on centers (Mckinnon, Duchene, Soderberg, Wilson, Colborne) and I know trading and "old" guy for a prospect usually doesn't happen but the Avs are weak on the wings and Hornqvist can help with that as he still has plenty of skill. And he's now on the Pens 2nd or 3rd lines which to me is a waste. Jost has the potential of being an elite center but he's still a risk given his age and inexperience. But it's a cheap gamble for the Pens that could pay off big in the end.

You just said it yourself "Jost has the potential of being an elite center". Why would a team that is rebuilding move a kid that looks extremely promising for an older winger and a late 3rd? [mod]

Because it's still a risk. At one point Pouliot was believe to be an elite Dman. Now he looks like a top 6 or maybe 7th. Sometimes the prospects don't pan out but Hornqvist gives the Avs a chance to be better and win now. The have the cap room and like I said are pretty weak on the wings. It's a gamble for both sides. And if a 2nd round pick makes it better than fine. I'd even say take a first if that's what makes the deal go through.

Trade doesnt make sense for a rebuilding team... maybee if the avs just won back to back cups they would take that

But AVS are rebuilding, that's the main point. They shouldn't be trying to win anything, because they can't. They will be one of the worst teams again, Hornqvist doesn't change that.

This makes 0 sense why would we trade a potential Elite centre who is just 19. Sure Hornqvist is good but it doesn't add up to Jost's Value even with the 3rd. Doesn't make sense to trade for a guy that old while rebuilding and Hornqvist is a ufa and would not resign with one of the worse teams in the NHL

I dont believe the AVS make this trade unless they are getting someone just as young. Sprong/ZAR/Jake -- someone like that with maybe a MAATTA and Horqvist

Jesus some of you Pens fans are out to lunch. Avs are not moving Jost. Nor MacKinnon or Rantanen bc you know what...They are the teams future, with Sakic and Mgmt openly saying that they are the teams core going fwd. hornqvist and a 3rd for the 10th overall pick in 2016.....jesus is this so delusional.

Why not propose MacKinnon for Hagelin while your at it
