I wouldn't trade Matthews straight up for those 3 guys, and if any pick that would come back would automatically be a 1st rounder not a 3rd. Matthews is still under 2 yrs of entry level contract, which is a massive advantage for the type of player he is, the Leafs are loaded up front, they can trade anyone else to get D help, if not they have some pretty good prospects coming on the blue line. Matthews could be just as good as Mcdavid, no chance I trade him for anything at this point.

that's not a great trade at all. the reason your fan base would be pissed would be because you gave up your future just to suck again, I hate Toronto I really do but even I would say this is a garbage trade. the list of things Nashville is giving up would have to be much much longer and that's just for Mathews let alone everything else

I wouldn't do this if I was Nashville. I think they are giving up too much actually. Just did it for shits. Anyone that thinks this is a bad trade for the Leafs is insane.

Matthews would ask for 2 1st rounder, Josi Josie and Forsberg and probably even more lol. Go home you Preds fan .

I don't think there's a team in the league outside McDavid's Oilers that could make a trade for Matthews.

the other players the Leafs are giving up is just for cap. Nashville would be taking on Hortons contract putting him on LTIR.

Well it's not a great trade. The Leafs trade four NHLer for three NHLers. The Leafs are short two roster spots with no cap. Brown gets more than 1.5m so the cap is actually worse. Just from that view, it's not realistic.
Leafs are fairly loaded at RW, and isn't Forsberg a RWer (despite what it says on CapFriendly.)

He can play both. And if they need more cap room they would trade someone else to make room. Not a big deal.

Either way you have a guy out of position. And to make cap room you have to trade a player who makes moderate money, and probably a good one to make the trade work, which makes the Leafs even weaker. Sounds to me that you were so anxious to trade make the Matthews trade.....ha ha ha. you just ignored player rosters and cap. The trade just isn't thought out well.

Nylander is going to a great center.
