Description
A couple Penguin fans are trolling, posting ridiculously cheap trades to reunite Ovechkin with his old friend, Malkin. here's one the Caps mght actually accept.
Trades
1.
WSH
  1. Cole, Ian
  2. Kessel, Phil
  3. Sestito, Tom
  4. Sprong, Daniel
  5. 2018 1st round pick (PIT)
  6. 2018 2nd round pick (PIT)
  7. 2018 3rd round pick (PIT)
  8. 2019 1st round pick (PIT)
  9. 2019 2nd round pick (PIT)
  10. 2019 3rd round pick (PIT)
  11. 2020 1st round pick (PIT)
  12. 2020 3rd round pick (PIT)
  13. 2020 4th round pick (PIT)
PIT
  1. Ovechkin, Alex
  2. 2018 6th round pick (WSH)
  3. 2019 5th round pick (WSH)
  4. 2020 5th round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Kessel is a salary dump/flip for more picks. Ovechkin for Ian Cole, and a boatload of prospects, and picks, none of which the Penguins will be needing, now that they have three MVP forwards, and they become the default stop for any free agent looking to put together a great season. They get a dynasty right away, like the NHL hasn't seen since the '80s. The Capitals, with all of these picks, start an epic rebbuild, and put together their own dynasty in the second half of the '20s.
2.
WSH
  1. 2018 2nd round pick (VAN)
  2. 2019 2nd round pick (VAN)
  3. 2020 3rd round pick (VAN)

4.
WSH
  1. Dumba, Matt
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (MIN)

6.
WSH
  1. 2018 1st round pick (EDM)
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Washington is rebuilding. Edmonton doesn't want Pittsburgh to spoil their Stanley Cup hopes, so they call MacLellan for a couple of defensive specialists, at the trade deadline. Who wins the Cup?

All those picks would be really nice, but the Pens would shoot that down in a heartbeat. As much as the Caps wouldn't need Kessel if we were to rebuild, Pittsburgh has a value on him. They certainly wouldn't add their top prospects and their first three rounds for two years, plus another first, third and fourth, plus Ian Cole for Ovechkin. And dammit, Ovechkin better not play for the Penguins ever. I'd have so many mixed emotions I wouldn't know what to do with myself

Not gonna lie, this made me laugh. The recent Ovie trade postings have been horrible - nice rebuttal.

Orpik trade doesn't make sense you would have yo give up a first or 2nd to get rid of that contract

Slimy, I invite you to name a nastier player, a player who has injured more people in playoff history, or a player who cares more about beating the Penguins. Edmonton has plenty of cap space. Orpik has a Stanley Cup, and so many President's trophies he's lost count. He's been part of the best team in the league and the league's best penalty kill on two different teams. But if they don't want him, this package has at least that value to any other team with cap space and cup aspirations. Eller alone was traded for two 2nd picks last summer, and prices for defensively sound veterans are always higher at the trade deadline. So I was kind of offering Edmonton a deal. Because who doesn't love Edmonton?

The most fair value for Ovechkin would be a trade for Sestito. Both are goones piece of s***.

But I'll give 5 stars because I like good jokes. And Ovechkin is the greatest joke of NHL.

I think the Penguins would sleep on this deal, have a meeting about it, and then call Kessel to thank him for everything. Crosby and Malkin are as old as Ovechkin. The other guys they have only work well because Crosby and Malkin make things easy for them. Pittsburgh has immense pressure to win right away, and they don't need a bunch of draft picks. Of course, if they wanted to pick a different salary dump, and keep Kessel, they have Hornqvist and Hageln. Either would get them under the cap this year. Yeah. I ran the numbers... https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/445214 smile
