Both those deals are heavily in favour of the Leafs. Parsons is Calgary's future starter and he could be a star and all they're getting are replacement level players. Florida gave up a lot for McCann so can't imagine them trading him away for burdens of Fehr and Marchenko with only Rychel in return.

Sage: Understand your thought process and see the Calgary deal, far more favourably than LeafsFan above. Calgary has never had much patience in terms of development especially when it comes to goalies, although Parsons while good is likely 3-4 years out. Actually Calgary might still be one team that would see Martin as a positive add, and I do see Shoshnikov helping their bottom 6 right away!
As for the Florida deal, I don't see the fit! Loads of room to take on the contracts, but certainly don't need a RD man for depth, can't see Fehr adding anything here, and I think it's a huge overstatement that Rychel is ready for a top 9 role. I took a look at setting up a trade very similar to this with much the same bodies, and saw that Arizona might be a good location as they are in need of some depth on the blueline, Fehr could add some short term 4th line depth, and Rychel could be in the fight for a LW spot. the problem is Arizona is at 45 contracts at the present time, and I doubt they put themselves in a much tighter position for a trade of this magnitude.
