Sammy: As I have said on many occasions, I am all for the move for Duchene! I think last year was simply a statistical outlier, and a rebound inevitable! But having said that, I think your offer is a huge overpayment! My suggestion would be to take JVR out of the deal, and/or the 1st. I do know they have said they want a young D back but Dermott fits that bill and Bozak would IMO be very open to resigning! Matty Duchene, top 3 in face off % over the last 3 years. (62%), huge speed, solid D presence, and can you imagine the speed of a line with Marner on the right, and Kapanen moved over to the left side!

Firstly I was thinking that it could be 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder.

I am so Bullish on bringing Duchene to Toronto, and I know from your other post that I am in the minority, that I would even leave the trade as you've outlined if you could exchange the 1st for a third.

Any leafs fan saying yes to this trade, or any for Duchene is clueless. He would be our 4th centre when Nylander moves to C. Vast overpayment on the leafs side. JVR is valued as a mid 1st pick as a rental, Bozak is a late 1st (Maybe a 2nd and 3rd depending on opinions), Dermott has top pair potential, the 1st will likely be from #10-20, could be a good player in this deep draft.

All in all, the leafs portion is valued at at least 3 1st rounders for a 41 point centre.

All of that for a player that would have been TMLs 4th best centre last season. Not worth it.

I don't think Avs want any pending UFAs in any Duchene deal unless the sole purpose is to take salary back. That would be stupid for the Avs. They need players that will make them a better team for a little longer than a year. Just sayin.
