What do you disagree with people on?

You don't incorporate the defense. Boston had much better defensemen than MTL. You can't just take stats and not contextualize them.

Example : Sean Couturier doesn;t have any more offensive upside since he hasn't gotten 40 points.


Defense lol...Chara at nearly 40 yrs old? a pure rookie playing top pairing minutes? a #3 that is in reality of PP Specialist? Then of course the great depth of McQuaid, Miller, Morrow and JML. Our defense is so great we called a kid up who just finished college to play top pairing minutes when our other rookie went down lol. The Boston defense is terrible and without Rask Boston would have been picking in the top 10 easily

I disagree, there is a freak tier, (McDavid, Crosby, Karlsson, Price)
Then a superstar tier (Malkin, Backstrom, Kane, Burns, Hedman, Holtby, maybe Matthews and Eichel soon.)
Then an elite tier which includes players like Kucherov, Tavares, Ovechkin, Getzlaf

Then a superstar tier (Malkin, Backstrom, Kane, Burns, Hedman, Holtby, maybe Matthews and Eichel soon.)
Then an elite tier which includes players like Kucherov, Tavares, Ovechkin, Getzlaf

Based on the definition of elite, wouldn't elite be the highest you could get?

Elite should be the top tier of talent. Superstar is more related to public perception and popularity. For example, Jonathan Toews is not elite, but he is a superstar because of how well known he is and how pretty much every fan of the NHL knows who he is.

I don't think MA Fleury is all that great. IDK if everyone disagrees with me on this, but I think VGK will be much better than the Canucks this year

When we talk about elite, we mean in comparison to the rest of the league. Compared to us, yes they are all elite. But comparing Crosby to a guy like Colton Sceviour makes Crosby elite.

Doc pretty much hit the nail on the head with his comment. Yes to the average Joe they are elite, were not talking about the entire population of earth. Just looking at NHL players there are few that are elite and honestly it might be 3-4 guys that are elite.
