Description

I know that it seems dumb to sign Parenteau but I think that they need a right winger to fill the roster space.

What do you think... Lazar in the middle, a rookie on the left and Hamilton scratched OR Lazar on the wing and the rookie is scratched? I think they can use both throughout the season.

I also think that it would be nice to get either a first or second round pick somehow.

So a few issues...

1st - Brouwer is not a 1st line RW'r - was barely earning 4th line minutes last year so 3rd at the best - Ferland was in the 1st line RW position at the end of last season...
2nd - So we are going to pass on re-signing Sam Bennett? Kulak?
3rd - Andersson is not ready for full time NHL duty - but if he was he is RD not LD...
4th - and last - Poirier is listed as a LW'r but actually plays his off wing so RW

Summary - the reason Calgary has not signed 1 of the many available RW'rs is due to a log jam of prospects - a vet RW might get a PTO just incase none of the prospects or invested in guys fail to step up but to sign a vet now would be sending a negative message to our existing guys...

Locked for the top 9 include... JH - Mony - Ferland (even if not 1st line) - Bennett (when re-signed) - Backs - Frolik - Thachuk... so 7 ... 2 open spots...

The Earn it guys = Lazar - Versteeg - Brouwer (3)

Then you have the rookies looking to earn a spot... Janko - Foo - Poirier - Mangi (my personal vote for dark horse) - Pribyl - Shinkaruk - Klimchuk (7 with at least 2 being NHL ready)...

At the beginning of last year RW was Calgary's biggest weakness... Due to "overcompensation" this is almost as deep if not deeper than C and the weakness now is LW...

Yeah...Clearly, i din't really look into that kind of stuff very well. I was just trying to show that I think that there are a few changes to be made this season but that the team is mostly fine. I completely forgot about bennett by the way, so that was a mistake.
