Leafs and Canucks swap it up

Created by: alwaysnextyear
Team: 2017-18 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 18, 2017
Published: Aug. 18, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Gives the Leafs a #1 defensive RHD in his prime, and two young forwards to help offset the loss of Nylander's offence now and in the future. Guys like Goldobin, Soshnikov, Bracco, Kapanen, etc. can fight for next year's spots as there are currently 6 pending UFA forwards on the big club.

Added Lupul as a cap balance just in case he wants to try to come back and play this year.

Don't think the leafs would want to trade Nylander and they will place Lupul on LTIR anyways

leafs certainly don't need grandlund and while tanev is an improvement over carrick, certainly not at the expense of nylander. suggested earlier, horvat and tanev may not even get you nylander.

"Horvat and Tanev may not even get you Nylander"

Are you kidding? Tanev is a top 4 D-man (top 2 in Toronto) and Horvat is a good 2C right now, with potential to be a 1C in a few years. And I'm saying this as someone who despises the Canucks.

no, I;m not kidding.
leafs fans (and I'm not really one) probably get tired of all these tanev trades. if tanev was really that good, can't he be traded to another team besides the Leafs. hard to believe, tanev is is better than Reilly, gardiner, zaitsev. he fits into the hainsey calibre. maybe that's the problem with the canucks if you think horvat is going to be their top centre. I'm guessing nylander is the superior player and he will probably be the leafs #2 centre behind Matthews in a year.
if the leafs really wanted to spend 4.4m a OK defenceman, they can get one quite easily without trading nylander.

I like Tanev as a decent top 4 RHD but Nylander is on a whole other level. That trade would never happen.

The Leafs would never trade Nylander for this package of players.
