It used to be Fight Club, I'm not so sure I have a favourite any longer, as I get bored of movies if I watch them too many times, I suppose some movies in the running would be:

Fight Club
The Right Stuff
Memento
LOTR FOTR
Schindler's List
Interstellar

Many others that aren't coming to mind

Kind of cliche answer, but The Godfather is fantastic. I'm not too quick to label something as my "favourite", but that's definitely up there.

A nice little underrated movie, imo, is Prisoners. Tough watch, but very good.

As a film buff who loves classics and believes 99% of what is made today is absolute filth and garbage, Prisoners is a freaking masterpiece. I was so emotionally wrecked I couldn't even cry. I just sat there with my mouth half-open unable to make a sound. What a film. (I already knew you had good taste in hockey, nice to see that that's in movies too smile)

So freaking good. There were some mixed reactions to it, which I found surprising. A lot of people weren't big fans of it. I thought it was fantastic.

I think the fact that it was so dark and disturbing (similar to Villenueve's next film "Sicario", also a jaw-dropping masterpiece and shot by Deakins-fantastic as usual) turned some people off. Taylor Sheridan (the screenwriter for Sicario and both the writer and director of "Wind River"-also an underrated film) said that when he was negotiating with Villenueve to direct Sicario, he started Prisoners and found it incredible, yet so emotionally wrecking that he couldn't finish it.

That's pretty much all of his movies. But, I like that.
Sicario is probably my favorite film of his.
Polytechnique was the toughest watch (from an emotionally wrecking pov).
Still need to see Incendies, but I've heard good things.

Prisoners, Sicario, etc... are films that aren't for everyone, and that's ok.
Blade Runner 2049 was obviously more of an appeal to the masses, but still incorporated some dark aspects of his previous films. It'll be interesting to see if he sticks to his style for Dune.

Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival are his 3 best, and I'd be OK with any one of them being called his top film (personally, I can't decide, all 3 were so good).

As for favorite film of all time, the obvious answer is Casablanca, the greatest film ever made. Runners-up (in order): The Godfather, Schindler's List, Citizen Kane, On the Waterfront.
(Greatest films of the 21st century (not in order): 1917, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Road to Perdition, The Lives of Others, Tenet, Inside Out, Lone Survivor, Prisoners, Sicario, A Hidden Life, Dunkirk, Interstellar)

Just returned from the Rays game, and the brain wasn't working properly. Arrival is by far my favorite Villeneuve film.

Tenet is another film that people either love or don't care for. It took 3 watchings to fully understand the film, but I absolutely love it.

100 freaking percent. It's a freaking masterpiece (and it also took me 3 watchings to fully understand it). Nolan is a master the likes of which have never been seen before. By far the greatest writer/director alive today, and already one of the greatest of all time, in my opinion (seriously, I could rave about the genius of Nolan for hours).
