Description

Discussions are already on. I would like to see Doughty retire a King along with Quick and Kopitar, but his age gap leads me to believe he won't. He will command close to $11mil/year and will sign some monster deal. If Kings struggle this year (looking like no Playoffs etc.) I could see them getting good value for Doughty, who would help a Playoff team's run this year, and another one next year, at a somewhat manageable $7mil/year.

So Miro Heiskanen is not the stars' top D prospect? Also how the heck do the stars get enough cap space.

A trade of Doughty will be an absolute last resort. Doughty's greatest trade value would be to of dealt him this offseason. Going forward you would trade him to a team whose window is closing and they go all in like Washington did with Shattenkirk, though I think Doughty would fetch a little more. I have said all along, I think Doughty's best fit is in Toronto and I think if the Kings move him, it will be there. I also think the Leafs would move a Marner or Nylander to acquire a Doughty. They'd have to in order to make the cap work.
