How are either players already "draft busts"? Because they haven't made the NHL yet? hahaha

Junior numbers and WJC numbers are not those of an elite prospect. They may become top 6 forwards but not the elite game-breakers they were projected to be.

Really? Dubois was a natural left wing moved to centre 1 1/2 years ago. He has progressed tremendously and may even make the club this year. He is strong on the puck and his compete level is off the chart. They took him for similar reasons as Wennberg. Wennberg did not rack up stats in Sweden, but was playing at the pro level with great vision and skill among much older players. Wennberg and Dubois could very well be our Crosby and Malkin in a couple years.

Slow down with Crosby/Malkin comparisons

Haha - I second that. Crosby had 100+ pts as an 18 year old and Malkin had 85 pts his rookie year.

Saying they could very well be our #1C/2C for a very long time.

Dylan Strome production in juniors and at the WJC blows Pierre-Luc Dubois' out of the water.

PLD will be a Benoit Pouliot type player where as I see Strome developing similar to Kyle Turris

LOL You didn't take the time to look up their stats ahead of saying that, Alex? Strome is one of the most prolific scorers in recent OHL history since he's been there....... PLD not so much fine but he's not the finesse player like Strome, he's a power forward similar to a Jamie Benn in playing style.

WJC numbers? That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Where in the world does 1 tournaments outcome dictate a player future? How many no names dominated the scoring in those 10-1 Norway defeats and how many stars didn't rack up as many points as those but played an integral role in their teams success none the less? PLENTY.

Plus just a note for everyone. Being drafted in top 5 top 10 , 1st round, etc doesn't automatically mean you'll be a elite superstar game breaker. Just means that team liked that player over 200+ others available. Elite game breaker talent is pretty much generational. How many true elite game breakers are their in the NHL today? 1 maybe 2 per draft? Plus they don't always reach that level at 18. Some take a couple years minimum.

And for bloody sakes, can we stop with using the term bust for any player who isn't in the NHL at 19? PLD had to crack a roster in CLB that was stacked! Had they been a rebuilder, he'd probably of been with the team but as we know that isn't always a good environment to be part of when learning in the NHL. Same goes for Strome. Management knows they'll suck for the foreseeable future and Strome benefited more from playing in the OHL and dominating then playing on a bad team where he probably wasn't mentally ready for yet.

Strome and PLD are not busts!
