Vancouver and Philly trades

Created by: MNBassman
Team: 2017-18 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 11, 2017

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
You have to give something to get something as both Granlund and Spurgeon are very, very good players. I just simply like bigger players to endure the NHL grind and especially the playoffs.

Trades
1.
VAN
  1. Granlund, Mikael
Additional Details:
Value-wise, I think this is as even as it gets. I don't know enough about Vancouver to know if this improves them, fills a need, etc...but this is what I would like to see the Wild do.
2.
PHI
  1. Spurgeon, Jared
Additional Details:
Yes, I have a big-time (hockey) crush on Radko Gudas - he is exactly what the Wild need. For the purpose of value for value, Myers can be any of a number of Flyer prospects with promise. Rubstov, Sanheim, Hagg, etc.

Trades are fair but I don't see Vancouver trading a their former # 1 who just resigned. Sorta goes against "the family thing." Not sure if the Flyers would like to take on Spurgeon's cap hit, and maybe they want to see how some of their inexpensive ELC pan out.

Horvat just signed a team friendly contract, and is all but guaranteed to be the next captain in Vancouver. Granlund had a really good season, sure. But Horvat is just too important to trade away for the sake of a bit more scoring.

Both of you make great points. I wasn't submitting this roster as anything too realistic, just changes in the Wild that I would love to see...and I tried to keep the trades reasonable, value-wise.

If I'm philly I'm all over that trade. Granted I'm a huge fan of Spurgeon and I think he's underrated, but I think you could get more. Maybe Myers has more value than I know but rn Gudas and a top 6 d potential prospect for a top pairing guy (imo) is a steal.

The Vancouver trade could happen, it is Benning after all. But I don't see Van making the trade from a need basis.

I like the Philly trade, but GMCF loves his trash heap find in Spurgeon to really consider any trade for him. Gudas adds some much needed size physicality to the Wild, but isn't in the same tier as Spurgeon (not a fan of him) defensively. The Wild's d-corps goes from good to questionable with Dumba, Gudas, and Quincey as the RD's.

Not willing to trade Philippe Myers for someone who he is going to potentially surpass in talent and value to team.
