You know Myers is just a prospect, due to play in AHL. I agree with your statement, "Basically this makes no sense."

Haha i know but i couldnt really find an RHD that other teams would be willing to move for a winger.

There is no magic in having RHD. Most players are left handed, so most teams go with 4 left hand shooting, and 2 right handed. The key is getting NHL Dman. For some reason some folks think RHD Is a unique position like goalie. Yes a team needs two goalies, but they do not need three or four RHD.

Its just its easier and more efficient if a player who shoots right, plays on that same side. Cuz if youre on your shooting side, you can curl on the transition smoother rather than when youre on the opposite side its a little funky cuz your curling towards your body which can get awkward.

Mr Cap. Oh I agree that having three RHD and three LHD is preferred for reasons you suggest. You can really pound the pucks off the defensive boards easier. It's just getting three good ones that is difficult. Stastically it's really not possible with the majority of players being LHD. I was/am a RHD. I would love to play for the Leaf even for the NHL minimum. I am related to probably the greatest NHL Dman ever and also to one of the Leafs most popular and good players. So maybe I have the bloodlines to play even at the age of 63.

Right handed D are hard to come by, especially good ones, RHD are worth their weight in gold
