I realize PLD is unproven at this point. BUT, he is 19, has a lot of potential and he is under team control for another +5 years, why give that up for a 26 year old who could be gone in 2 years?

Dubois isn't going to help CLB win the Cup in the next 5 years, while Duchene could make a immediate impact. That package should really get Sakic interested, IMO.

I don't agree with some of your line configurations after the trade, especially since Duchene is a good skating/faceoff center, but that's less important. Once CLB fans see Bjorkstrand working in the Top 6, they will forget all about Dubois.

The CBJ are in a position that they have not been in for their entire existence.
They now have prospects in the system that are very skilled and highly regarded (have some value) around the league:
Bjorkstrand, Dubois, & Carlsson.
Abramov, Thurkauf. & Vigneault, are right on the cusp of emerging in this group.
In my opinion, Milano is still a very big question mark, I think he goes long stretches nowhere near the puck and looks confused as to where he should be.

The Jackets are definitely questionable up the middle at this moment in time.
Jenner prefers LW. Dubi is aging and maintaining 2C status, but would be better suited at 3C. Wennberg is young and learning quickly, holding down 1C for the present time. Sedlak is serviceable 4C (possibly 3C).
They definitely need another 1C or 2C player.

I realize Avs would be looking for a C in return, but I say hold on to Dubois & Thurkauf since they play C and may soon develop into a top 1C/2C in the next couple years.
Try and entice with trade off Murray, Milano, Anderson, and a 2nd (or yes, 1st if need be).
If they don't take it, be prepared to walk for another option later in the season as the trade deadline approaches.

I'm OK with this

Avs win the deal overall
Columbus wins in the next few years

I'm super skeptical about Polak ever being on a cup winning team though. Franson is only on a PTO with Chicago, he'd be my preference of UFA.
Lumbus might be able to add some good 4th liners from waivers too.

The east is going to be a lot tougher this year. Add NJ, PHI to the mix at the top end thanks to the draft lottery.
