Last minute shocking deal with Colorado

Created by: TrueNorth
Team: 2017-18 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 12, 2017
Published: Sep. 12, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Myers commitment to Winnipeg is huge after how the team dealt with his personal issues last year. I can see him coming back and playing inspired hockey. Trouba is a great talent and TNSE want to prove their commitment to him being their current and future #1 guy. Odd man out is Buff. Great for the locker room and the intimidation factor but on the wrong side of 30 and penalties have killed the Jets.

Buff trade would only happen if they get Trouba locked up first. Another thing, I don't think they would want to trade Buff to a division rival

That Top 6 is really good.

But the LD looks really awful once Buff is out of the mix. WPG would really need to see Trouba and Myers show up as beasts (with Myers being more physical) to warrant considering not having Buff around.

I think the Colorado trade is way off b/c that's not what the Avs are looking for. They want cheap young controllable talent and picks.

As for the Vegas trade how does that even come close to making sense? Vegas trades a 20 goal scorer in Perron and a cheap puck moving defender with 3 years of team control left in Miller for a couple of terrible rental players. Not only that but they are rental players Vegas doesn't need. And how does Vegas need help for Fluery, they drafted Pickard as well who is def. a better option than Hutchinson.

Perron alone is potentially bringing back a 1st or maybe a 2nd and a 3rd. And Miller has extra value given the 3 years of team control.

I'll admit that I was trying to find a place to dump Hutch and Matthias and got greedy on the return. I am going to edit that trade out and just sign a UFA RHD.

WPG adds to Byfuglien, to get Duchene alone. Due to age (predicted performance + years of delivering it)

Interesting angle.

I think 'division rival' is BS, especially in this case.

I don't see Colorado worrying about the division rivalry thing for the next couple seasons. They admittedly would rather get a Trouba out of the deal than a Buff but Buff would get bums in seats and sell merchandise which Colorado will need this season. Might buy them a honeymoon period to sort the rest of their issues out.

No way do i see Byfuglien accepting a trade to a rebuilding team. Sakic isn't trading Duchene for Byfuglien the guy is what 32 years old now hardly fits Colorado's rebuild here.

I think a lot of managers would love to have Byfuglien on their team. Few players strike fear into their opposition like Buff. Statistics only tell part of the story. No-one wakes up on game day and looks forward to lining up against big buff.

Division rival, 3rd RHD means Barrie or Johnson would need to be traded (not saying that couldn't happen but it would have to for the deal to make sense) and absolutely no way you get Compher as well. Also not what the Avs are looking for, Byfuglien is too old.
