I think Ottawa will move heaven and earth to sign Karlsson. I can't fathom him leaving. Its not like Tavares in NYI, they have a good team and are competitive and have a good arena. They'll get a deal done.

Outside of the fact that Ottawa is unlikely to even consider it, the deal is interesting essentially 3 1st rounders a good defensive prospect and a solid vet. I just don't think there is enough impact there to make a team like Ottawa consider dealing Karlsson. Those figure to be very late 1st rounders and Yamamoto and Bear have upside and could be good players, but prob. not elite guys.

If Ottawa considered moving Karlsson just about every team would make an offer and a number of teams can easily offer more than than what you have above, some by a considerable amount

Too many futures and big cap, I don't think it's enough for Karlsson. But with just two left till UFA, a trade might be forthcoming next summer.

The only way to get Karlsson out of Ottawa is to wait for him to hit free agency - if he ever does.

There's a few players in the league I would trade anyone for.


I think Edmonton could afford to go after him, but Ottawa doesn't lose sleep over turning this down.

Question for EDM fans: replace Bear with Draisatl, do you still have the guts to make the trade?
