A new waiver policy will be implemented starting February 1, 2018.

Beginning that day, teams will be allowed ONE waiver claim per month. All past waiver claim policies such as being contract compliant to claim a player remain in effect. A team may place as many players on waivers as they wish, however, they are only allowed to claim ONE player per month. It is irrelevant whether or not you are the only team to put a claim on a player. Any player claimed off of waivers counts towards a teams one claim per month.

If you have any questions about this policy, please ask in the “Messages to the BOE” Thread. Thanks.

Love this! cheers

The following are the rules for the RFA Extension Period:

Please DM me with all offers (include any clauses) via Twitter or email (vegasgkgm@gmail.com) by Tuesday, March 5. I will review the offers and either respond affirming the deals or will counter and engage in negotiations up to my discretion or Friday, March 8.

I will notify all parties on CapFriendly with the appropriate time to publish your extension(s).

There is no limit to how many RFAs can be signed or AAV. Note that is the only window to extend RFAs . There will be a time to tender all RFAs and then enter the Offer Sheet phase.

You must include all offers that you wish to be considered. If you do not include all offers, any late offers are subject to not being voided at my discretion.

General Managers,

Recently, the Board of Evaluators and Board of Governors have discussed internally about attempting to make the GM Game more creative, strategic, and entertaining in the short term as well as the offseason. We have assessed that the best way to achieve our goals is to create an Seattle Expansion Team for the 2018-2019 season that @phillyjabroni would be the General Manager of until the 2018-2019 GM Game. The preliminary rules would be identical to the Vegas Expansion Draft and the Expansion Draft and trades will occur throughout April until the Entry Draft (tentative May 4). Because this is an executive decision we feel that every General Manager should have input with regards to accepting the Seattle Expansion bid and thus a league wide vote will commence. In order for the Expansion Team to be accepted, there needs to be 80 percent of the votes in favor. All votes will be valid until Thursday, March 15 at 11:00 pm EST. Any questions, comments, or concerns should be directed in the BOE Thread. There will be adjusted Draft Lottery Odds that will be released contingent on the results of the Expansion Team.

Voting Format:
Team Name, GM Name - (Yes-No)
Example
Columbus Blue Jackets, matt59 - (1-0)
Vancouver Canucks, alwaysnextyear - (2-0)
Anaheim Ducks, FlyerFanatic - (2-1)

This means that the current vote is 2-1 in favor of acceptance. Please be sure to follow along and keep up with whomever votes before you.

Thanks,
Nick

Attention General Managers,

The game's Trade Deadline will be on April 8 at 11:59 PM EST. All teams will be allowed 10 trades during the month of April. Any trades that are posted in the Official Trades Thread after that time will not be valid. The draft lottery will be on April 15, one week after the deadline.

Hello,

Here the finalized rules for the Lottery (April 15) and the Draft (May 4*):

The Lottery is made up of the 15 “non-playoff” teams with rankings being determined by 100 percent “Win Now.”

1.) The BOE will announce which teams qualify for the Lottery prior to April 15, the date in which the Lottery will be conducted and the results will be revealed via CapFriendly.

2.) I will be the sole conductor of the Lottery. In order to have proof that the Lottery was not conducted illegally, I will announce shortly before April 15 the exact timing that I will conduct the Lottery and will take a video of me conducting the Lottery to ensure that it was completed on the “up and up.”

3.) After the Lottery has been conducted, I will reveal the selections 1-15 in reverse order, starting with #15 on CapFriendly in a designated thread.

Some more details on the draft:

We will not have an public aggregate list of the draft prospects, however, there will be an internal list that will be used if General Managers miss their allotted time to make a selection.

We will be accepting preference lists based solely on position for the first three rounds (picks 1 - 93). General Managers should notify the BOE via email (gmgameboe@gmail.com) with their preference lists.

Any questions or concerns should be addressed in the BOE thread.

Thanks,
Nick

General Managers,

With the departure of @krakowitz from the BOG, an opening has become available for GMs to entertain. While we value input from everyone and want to make this decision democratically, we are crunched for time with some of the busiest parts of the game coming up. Because of this, we have assessed that it would be in the best interest of the game to appoint one interim BOG members until the game calms down.

Our appointment is @A_K We truly believe that he will have the best ability to act on behalf of you and on behalf of the interest of the game.

To reiterate, we will hold elections for these openings later on - potentially after the Draft has concluded.

Thanks,
BOEG

General Managers,

During the down time, the BOEG has taken some time to reflect on the year, analyzing the positives and the negatives. From these discussions, we have agreed that, under this current model, continuing the v2 GM Game is not sustainable for more than one year. The reason we believe this to be true is because teams will only be making trades that perpetuate lateral moves, resulting in minimal - if any - change in “win now” rankings. This will result in contenders remaining contenders, middle teams remaining middle teams (with slight movement), and bottom-feeders being bottom-feeders. If this model would be sustainable for more than one year, it would have to compromise the intrinsic value associated with simply playing the game - trade limits would be heavily reduced, for example. In simpler terms, the game is designed for only one year at a time given our current rules.

We have decided to submit this proposal to you, the General Managers, to consider:

2017-2018 Season
Draft + Superlatives
v2 ends at conclusion of Superlatives

2018-2019 Season (Full Restart)
June 1 - Pick teams (ideally GMs who have the strongest comparative advantage will take those teams, further explanation later; pick order TBD)
June 4-20* - 2018 NHL Draft
June 20-XX* - Free Agency
September 15 - Official Start of 2018-2019 Season
March/April, 2019 - EXPANSION DRAFT (GM - phillyjabroni)

Due to the Expansion Draft, the rosters from the 2018-2019 season will carry over into the 2019-2020 season. We will be able to assess the state of the GM Game as we get closer to that date. The reason for the Expansion Draft is to a.) provide more strategic fun and b.) have model that is sustainable for more than one year.

Currently, our model will have (4) BOG members and zero BOE members. No trade ratings. Yes to waiver order (win now?).

Any questions or comment can be directed to my Twitter or asked in this thread: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/91686

Thanks,

BOEG

I'm all for this idea, as I've said all along it makes sense to restart.
So my question(s) are this...

1. what do you mean by "comparative advantage"?
2. does this mean there is a chance we (I) can pick a specific team on June 1 ?
3. Given that this is where we are headed, does this make our current 2017/18 teams basically frozen, or are they going to be the team rosters for the start of the V3 season?
4. Based on #3 when v3 starts and we pick teams will we start the new version with those real life rosters and go from there?

That's it. I know some of this might still be a work in progress, I'm just very excited at having the chance to pick a new team (gee, I wonder who I'll pick) sarcasm

Why not just a complete full reset starting, including draft picks. Starting with the expansion draft?
